An Important Day

Today is an important day at our house. It's Samba's birthday. She's eight years old today.

We were planning on having a party over the weekend, but the weather didn't cooperate. The good thing about having dogs instead of children is they don't know about dates and can't read the calendar. They party whenever we say it's time to party. So next weekend we'll try for a birthday party for our girl.

This was taken the day after Samba arrived here.

She was never shy, always ready to explore the world around her.

She may not have had a party, but she did have shrimp for dinner last night.

She took to the water immediately and also started retrieving. Notice the tiny little bone she's carrying.

This is Samba as an adolescent.

She soon grew into her body

This was taken just before she got sick. Now her mouth is usually closed in her pictures.

This was taken this morning. She and I sat on the porch for a while and thought back over our eight years together. This is a wonderful dog. Happy Birthday Samba.

  13. What a cute baby! Happy Birthday! I remember Samba was one of the first patients I saw at ACPH-they brought her back for a blood draw that I performed. I was surprised to see a PWD. I'd only ever seen them at agility trials.
