Crash-Boom

It's been hot and dry here for weeks. Though we've had threats of storms, none ever actually happened. But yesterday afternoon that all changed. We were getting used to hearing fireworks on and off all day, then the wind picked up and Mother Nature had her own 4th of July celebration.
Lots of thunder boomers and tons of rain. We went from dusty yard to muddy yard in minutes.

What made those muddy footprints? Ten guesses!

In between storms we decided it was a good time for a watermelon break. This time we didn't put the melon pieces in the big pink tub. Tsar and Sky don't like sticking their heads in the tub and Samba gobbles everything is sight, so instead Rob handed out the pieces. Bailey invited Monkey.

Everyone thought this was a good idea.

Notice that Tsar is always a bit separated from the pack. He likes his space and the others usually respect his wishes.
Sometimes Tsar eats melon and sometimes not. This time he liked it a lot and asked for more.

Everyone did pretty well with the manners thing.

Rob tried to make sure everyone got their fair share of melon.

It's not easy to remember manners when melon is involved.

While holding the camera, I kept reminding everyone to sit nicely.

It didn't always register.

And you ask, where was Monkey during all this melon eating?

Forgotten in the grass. Poor Monkey!

Shortly after the snack another storm came thru, then after dinner still another one. It was a noisy evening with fireworks in between storms. Morgan climbed in bed with us because of all the noise. This time she kicked Rob until he decided to sleep downstairs. Then she stretched out and slept till  breakfast.

Happy 4th to all our friends. We hope your holiday isn't too noisy.

  6. I am hoping for a quieter, more sleep filled night tonight. Last was lots of boomers, and Stella barks at them and felt better about doing that up on my bed.

Hoping for a more peaceful evening tonight! for me and For You!

    Kisses,
    Stella

  10. Another Phantom/Tsar similarity, although Phantom has been surprising Mom lately in getting closer in group photos.

We are amazed that Rob can remember who got a taste and who didn't - that is quite a group.

We had a few downpours yesterday too, but all it did was make it hotter and more humid.

    Happy 4th of July!!!

  17. Love that Morgan kicked Rob out of bed. The boys used to do that to Mark; then we got a king-sized bed and smaller girl-dogs!

  18. We had a 4 hour long thunderstorm Saturday night/Sunday morning, and Thor was not amused. We've been lucky to go 3 days without drowning rains, so it was probably your turn.

I'm glad Bailey left Monkey out of the melon party. It would not have been fun to have a melon sticky Monkey hanging around.
