Oh Boy, Snow!!

We woke up this morning to several inches of snow. Rob and I were not all that pleased but Boston thinks it's absolutely wonderful. Now when we go out he can toss snow in the air and try to catch it, dig for buried treasure such as sticks, make snow pupangels and leave great yellow markings for whoever comes by.

What do you mean we just came in and can't go out again immediately?

Well, I'll just wait here until you drink that hot coffee, then we can go out and play again.

Fortunately, he fell asleep while waiting and I got a chance to get a few things done.

Truce

Mackey and Boston play pretty nicely outside BUT inside there's a lot of growling from Mac and high pitched barking from Boston. However we occasionally get a truce, especially when there is food being prepared.

Then we go back to making a lot of noise.

A Puppy's Work Is Never Done

Boston is growing fast. We can almost see his legs getting longer each day. He saw Dr B on Friday and had doubled his weight since last visit.  He's now almost 13 pounds. Another change, he didn't fall asleep during his exam this time. Instead he tried to chew the doc's hands off.

He keeps very busy each day except for his two hour naps that happen suddenly in the middle of play. He just stops whatever he's doing, goes into his crate and sleeps to recharge the battery. When he comes out he's ready for action.

He tries to be helpful around the house, like when he helps load the dishwasher.

When he hears it open he comes running to help.

He has a full time job fighting off dinosaurs.

But he's also very busy perfecting his basketball technique.

Is that the move that made Michael Jordan famous?
Life is not dull with Boston around.

Tough Guy

It takes a tough puppy to wrestle a lobster that's as big as you are.

Boston says he won the match.

The Great Outdoors

It's been a busy week for Boston. He's learning how to be a "Good Boy", though he  doesn't always accomplish the goal.

He recognizes his food bowl and can show you where his food is kept. When he sees me heading for the pantry with his bowl  he jumps, spins and sings. He knows that his food is served in his crate so he races for the crate and is waiting when I get there. He also goes into his crate by himself to nap which is a big accomplishment. He had been sleeping in a small carrier next to the bed but he's outgrown it so he now sleeps in his crate in the livingroom. He wakes around 4:30 each morning and needs to go out but then goes back to sleep till about 6:30 when he's hungry and starts demanding breakfast.

Housetraining is going a little better over the past couple days. Yesterday there were no accidents in the house. We managed to get him outside in time except for a couple times when he used his pee pads. Last night he actually told me that he had to go out and we made it in time.

Last week we introduced him to the backyard and he loves it. He runs and digs and climbs on the rockpile.

Boston and I take a walk around the yard every day.
Although Mackey doesn't care much for him and growls at him in the house, in the yard she enjoys playing with him.
Rob built a little bridge over a drainage area on the hill. Boston and Mackey play in that area. He chases her, then she chases him and he runs under the bridge where she can't get him. She stands there and barks till he comes out and they chase each other some more.

After playing troll under the bridge, they share a quiet moment chewing on sticks.
It rained one day and Boston got pretty muddy playing.

The feet, legs, belly and face got washed but he didn't seem to mind.

A Puppy's Job

Boston is a very busy boy. When he isn't eating or napping or chasing Mackey around, he has lots of toys to attend to. Choosing one must be a hard decision.

Each morning he greets and beats up Bunny.
He likes to chew on the birthday balloon.
Wrestling with the Huskey pup is like fighting with his brothers.
There are so many! Bears and balls and birds......
But all these toys have one thing in common. They are all leftovers from other puppies that came before.   Till now.

A good friend who I met blogging sent Boston his very own chew toys and he loves them.

I am thrilled with these toys too because they're saving my hands and ankles from his razor sharp teeth.
