This morning as I sat down at the table to enjoy my breakfast, I was distracted by activity on the deck.
Rob had gotten up early and put seed on the railing for the birds.
This fellow must have alerted his whole family to the fact that breakfast was being served.
As I watched two sq's from across the street came to grab a snack, but were chased away by this hungry family group.
Yes, they're pests, but they are entertaining as I eat breakfast. When I finished, I let the dogs chase them back into the trees.
That's very true, isn't it? When I sewed in the formal living room (years ago when we bought this house) Jay put a bird feeder right outside the window where my machine was. Often Abby would sit in my lap and vibrate while she watched the sq's with me. That's how we learned she could be quiet.
ReplyDeleteThey really are very entertaining. g
I love watching squirrels interact as well and I find their antics to be so silly and fascinating at the same time! Eating breakfast in front of the window is better than in front of the tv for sure!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I'm still laughing over the sidebar entry: "Squirrel, The other white meat!" A perfect dog quote!
ReplyDeleteNext weekend while I’m playing on this hop, I’ll also be hosting one at my blog. I’d love to have you join in to help homeless bunny friends find furever homes. Check it out http://www.allthingsdogblog.com/2011/04/easter-rabbit-adoptathon-blog-hop.html
Squirrels are rude and obnoxious, but as entertaining as anything. We can watch them for hours.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if they didn't have bushy tails they would just be rats.
Heehee. We refer to this as 'doggie-tv'. Except that the barking escalates exponentially, and then all chaos ensues. However, we're still buried under a bunch of snow, and I have yet to see more than a few brave squirrel venture from their hidey-holes. It'll be a week or two, at least before the dogs can REALLY go bananas! ;-)
ReplyDeleteDr. Liz (the girls are busy licking the snowballs off their legs...)
One thing about squirrels is that they ALWAYS have friends and always invite them along!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's what you get when you set up a fantastic breakfast bar:)

I rarely see squirrels that close, except on our walks. Our girls keep them off the deck. That, and we can't feed the birds anywhere near the deck for similar reasons. Hem.
