What's Happening Here?

What does it mean when your dogs start getting more and much better mail than you do? One day last week I received four catalogs, a bank statement and my phone bill in the mail. That same day my dogs received three Christmas cards and a big box addressed to 'The Waterdogs'.
Look what was in the box. Toys and treats from our friends Zona and Phoenix and Cali. Lots of our favorite balls and even a new Wubba for Morgan. I didn't show it to my dogs, I told them they have to wait till Christmas morning to see what's inside.

Look at the great cards they've received, plus they've gotten several electronic cards. So far Rob and I haven't received any holiday cards. Hmmm!!  It appears that my wave of Porties have some generous friends.

We have a tree that we trim with doggy ornaments. Each dog has one, plus there are generic dog decorations. Here is Monty's special ornament. This arrived the day he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. When I hang it on the tree, I have so many wonderful and funny memories.

Do your dogs and cats have stockings? When I had three dogs and a bird, I knit individual stockings for them with their names knit in. Now, with so many animals in the house I gave up on knitting them each stockings. We have this dog stocking that we hang up, but Santa doesn't fill it anymore. I don't want them using the stocking as a tug toy and instead we put their toys in the toybox. When we open it, they can each choose their own toys.

Do your pets send holiday cards? Do you sign their names on your cards? In the past my dogs have sent a couple cards to special friends, but this year they have a long list of friends. We'll probably be sending some cards over the internet. In the past we sometimes signed their names to certain cards, but since the pups were born, they now get their pictures on the cards. I'm sure some of my family could care less, but so what? I consider my animals part of the family.

Do you buy gifts for your pets? I'll bet you do. We do. besides the toys from Zona and her sisters, Rob and I hit the thrift shop Friday. They had a special deal, a big trash bag full of stuffed animals for $2. We bought three bags and inside were teddy bears, doggies, and a monkey. Guess who'll probably get the monkey!  After Christmas last year I found some toys reduced, bought them and stuck them in a closet. Rob found a big container of Pupcorn and a huge bag of Beggin Strips, so there'll be plenty of safe treats.
Looks like the fur kids are in for a great holiday. What holiday traditions do your pets look forward to?

We sign all cards in this house.

At Christmas, we always get the morning walk. Then come home to a lambshank or big meaty bone to keep us busy while SHE goes out.

We're not into toys. Other than burying them, we ignore them and prefer to chase live things: bugs, cats, birds, lizards.... But treats are another matter!

Lots of questions and I'm still typing with only 9 fingers... but yes, the fur-girls sign cards, and even started sending their own thank you notes recently. Of course they get and give gifts... when we do Christmas dinner with my sister and my inlaws (yes, all together!), the dogs exchange gifts too.

Oh - and I LOVE that ornament.

What a thoughtful and fun package to receive and I love the cards too!! So far it seems to be even at our house--But even when there's something edible that comes for me, I have to share it with our crew--That manners thing!

We send cards and the pets definitely get gifts! They all have stockings but haven't been hung yet because everything is in the shed right now. I knew Holly was more popular than me when she got way more birthday cards than I did this year! The dog is number one in the house! Looks like mom is going to have to step on it about the decorations! Lots of love, Holly and mom

Thor's favorite holiday tradition is that all of his people are here. Of course, he doesn't care a whit about presents, but he does enjoy cookies. As for a stocking? I can barely keep track of and fill human stockings; boxes are so much more fun.

We are doing mostly e-cards this year. The list just got way too long and we thought the money for cards and stamps would be put to better use with a donation to a local rescue. We are hoping for some tasty treats for Christmas, the homemade kind:)

Well, I think it means that the dogs have more friends than you. I know that sounds harsh, but that's the way it is. Me? I must get almost 200 cards each year. Momma? I think she gets about five and that includes the cards she gets from the newspaper delivery guy and whatnot. Yuh, I can't help it. Just the way it is.

don't all dogs get more cards and gifts than humans? we certainly do in this house.

we have done the DWB card exchange in the past, but not last year or this year. since the human didn't work for most of last year, we're still kind of poor and we're just laying low. it's okay. we know santa paws loves us.

I know, right? I just received a package from my best friend and my dog's gift is much larger than mine somehow.

As for my dog's favourite tradition, I gotta say it is all the food and our unusually generous moods. ;-)

Its the same thing here, Stella gets all the cards, and I may get two or three from never-give-up family members. Tomorrow she will have to sign some more! And me, not to worry!

Cheers and hugs,
