Thank You

Do you ever stop and think about the people that you've never met who have had a big impact on your life? Sometimes they're nameless people who protect us or develop new vaccines to keep us healthy or they may invent something that changes our lives for the better.

Today I'm feeling sad for the loss of a person I've never met. Steve Jobs died yesterday. I never met him and don't know a lot about his life except that his ideas and creativity made my life easier and better.
I switched from a PC to a Mac several years ago and now instead of grumbling at error messages that I don't understand, I just drag and drop and it's boosted my creativity in ways I can't begin to explain.

I'm also a confirmed Ipod user and hope that someday I may also own an Iphone.
Thank you Steve Jobs. We will miss your dreams becoming the gadgets that make our lives easier and more fun.

I'll second that. He was a visionary to be sure, and he truly changed the world.

I think a true comparison of Steve Jobs would be to compare him with Thomas Edison--Although Edison was even more of a giant in the number of inventions and in getting electricity usage started, in modern times, few can make the claim of having had such a profound effect on what millions of people do every day in their lives because of him. Just my thoughts... :-)

Windows is a copy of Steve's icons, and while I was more than capable of using the computer with the DOS operating system, I appreciate the ease of Windows. So I owe thanks to Steve, too.

One thing I noticed is that there was never mention of a "Mrs. Steve" or kids. But in the picture on the front of my paper, I saw a wedding ring on his hand. That made me feel better, because I think everyone is happier with someone to love. I'm also glad for the sake of his wife and any children that he kept them so intensely private; they all had a much more normal life that way.

RIP, Steve, even we non-mac, non-ipod and non-iphone people owe you some gratitude. The last thinker like Steve was Edison, so there probably won't be another until around 2100.

It's people like Steve Jobs that have made technology accessible to the rest of us.

Every once in a while, mama will also stop and thank those who made our modern, comfortable lives possible. Most average Americans live better than European royalty did even 150 years ago. So thanks to Thomas Edison for harnessing electricity and to whoever invented running water and flush toilets and showers [not just bath tubs] and refrigerators and electric irons and sewing machines [Elias Howell?] and cook stoves that don't require mama to chop wood and vacuum cleaners and automatic washers and dryers and, above all, air conditioning! And to Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. And Alexander Graham Bell. OH! And whoever invented TV!

We agree. My kids have i phones, i pods etc and just love them. I'm slowly updating (being an old fashioned type) but love new technology. Take care all. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

I so agree with you about Steve Jobs. Although the only Apple product I own is an iPod, Iv'e always admired his genius and they way he turned an idea into a user-friendly gadget. He is irreplaceable. I felt very sad too when I heard the news. A good man taken from us much too young! RIP Steve.

I have to think that God needed a great inventor in heaven so he took Steve Jobs to help him. I was so sad to hear of the passing of this brilliant man.

The mac and all the other associated products are like no others. Proof that it is possible to make high quality user friendly things that people will actually pay more for. If only more corporations could learn how to do that, but I fear that he was one of a kind.

His vision was incredible wasn't it. I love the integration of the apple products - I wish everything we used day to day was happily integrated ... I really wish everyone happily integrated too ... (but that makes for a longer discussion) x
