What's In A Name?

It took Rob and me 14 years to agree on a china pattern. Choosing a name for a living creature is something we put a lot of thought into and we don't always see eye to eye on the choices. The new puppies have been nameless for the week as we tried to get a handle on their personalities in order to give them appropriately fitting names.
When we were first married Rob liked naming pets after cars, hence Bentley and Porsche. I got him off that with the rest of the pack but he went back to it with these two. I used my veto and we moved on. I found two names I liked, but he didn't. Then this morning we had a breakthru.

We've gotten to know the babies this week and have learned that we have one who is a singer and loves to eat. She gobbles down her food as soon as she sees it, then goes looking for more. If something displeases her, she doesn't hesitate to let the entire world know about it.
For this little opera singer, we chose the name
Her smaller sister is a great explorer. She likes to investigate the big new world around her, chases leaves blowing thru the yard and has even learned, after many failed attempts, to climb the big rocks in the front yard.
Her new name is
Now we can get on with training without calling them hey you and you too.

Lovely names for cute girls we look forward to getting to know better. I take some satisfaction in knowing you and Rob have naming struggles too!

When we got Bart and Gizmo, we went through a similar process. In the end Mr. Rottrover and I each named a puppy. He's very mechanical... :-)

Good names! The markings on these two are different enough so that you won't confuse them, right?

I love the names, well thought out. Hi Sydney and Mackenzie (Syd and Mac for short).

They're very cute, and it's fun to see their personalities showing up. Mostly, though, I'm glad we won't have to call Sydney "Lard Ass" forever. And I'm glad Rob didn't get to name her something small car-like, such as "Sonata".

Hello Sydney and Mckenzie,

It is nice to be introduced to you, and to know that your humans put so much thought into finding each of you a name that matched your personality!

Woofs,
Riley

It always takes a while for a puppy to tell you its name, doesn't it?

Great names! I predict Mackenzie will be shortened to a one or two syllable nickname (that's always happened with my critters who had long names). :-)
