Things were going along pretty well till they weren't. Just before Christmas I had a steroid injection in my hand for tendonitis. I didn't expect it to work but it did. The day before Christmas I took the brace off my hand and there was no pain. I was able to use it and I did.
The doctor had told me to give it a good workout so I tried to use it as normally as possible. That wasn't easy to do with the memory of the pain fresh in my mind. I did a lot of stitching too but one thing I didn't try was knitting. I was just afraid that it would stress the tendon too much.
Last week I felt a couple little twinges of pain. Then one night I made a fist and it hurt to straighten my hand again. The catch was back in my thumb. I started wearing the brace again and on Monday I called the doctor. I was lucky to get an appointment for today.
Just got home and I had a second injection. He really hit this one right on the spot. It hurt a lot and now my thumb is hot and swollen and pretty painful. It's our hope that this one will last longer. If not, the next step is surgery.

Here's hoping the second time is the charm and not the third. Mom said she needed two injections for her back along with a lot of PT. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh crap. Ma has so many issues with her tendons, nerves, muscles, she could write a book! No..that would be BORING! BOL Butts, she knows how you feel! She can't take the injections cause they do weird thingies to her, so she takes LOTS of Advil when it flares up.(only thing that works) She never had her thumb swell the size of a zucchini before though! ☺ I sure hope this one lasts a long time, so you can skip the surgicals!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
pees: I could send you a pitcher of margaritas..I hear that helps with everythings! BOL
Oh thats really annoying, just when you thought you'd got it sorted. Hope this injection does the job for you

We hope it works. She has had three cortisone injections into HER shoulder. First one lasted 9 months, second did no good, and it has been over a year since the third. It's working so well. So hopefully your tendons will be working a treat soon.
Oh Sue, I'm so sorry... I can't imagine the pain. I hope it did the trick and hope you are feeling better soon.
A friend had surgery for trigger finger last year. She was in a lot of pain prior to that.
