Stormy Weather

You may have heard on the news that the midwest was due for storms yesterday and today. Yesterday it did get dark and windy but except for one quick thunderstorm in the late afternoon, nothing much happened. It seems that around here the bad weather is sneaky and likes to appear during the night time hours. At 2:17 this morning a clap of thunder woke me. The dogs woke and found different sleeping spots, but didn't get too excited.

When I first went outside this morning, it was obvious that we'd gotten some heavy rain, but except for a lot of small sticks in the yard, there was no damage. Then I noticed this two houses up the street.
This used to be a pretty big tree.
Here's the rest of it.
But on the other hand, you know what April showers bring.
Today has been sunny and warm, a lovely day with a strong breeze. We're told that more storms are in the area, so we'll see what tonight brings.

We had the threat all day yesterday but the storms waited for us all to go to bed. Then we had about six hours of nonstop noise and lights. Lots of heavy rain, wind, and hail. Luckily no damage. More this weekend - tis the season:)

Wow! Our tree did that last year, and now we have our Memorial Garden in that spot instead.

Yikes! Glad you guys had no damage. The 2 HUGE weeping willows that went down a couple years ago are still, um, "growing" ... sideways..... Matt started cutting them up long ago, but hasn't had the time to tend to them. I honestly don't mind... they're still growing and it's sort of like our little forest. The woodchucks run in and out of there all day.

Wow! You're lucky you had no damage, but your neighbor is the luckiest guy on the block, with the tree in his driveway and not in his living room. We are supposed to get the rain associated with that storm, but the winds are supposed to die down. It's also fortunate that the pack wasn't really disturbed by the thunder and lightning; that's bad enough with just one dog, let alone 10!
