Hot Times InThe Old Town

Why are we humans never satisfied with the weather? If it's raining we wish it was sunny. If it's dry, we wish it would rain. If it's cold and snowy, we wish for summer. If it's hot, we wish it were cooler. Today the temperature hit the 90s and it looks like it plans to stay there for the next couple months. I like my days to be approximately 68 degrees, so I plan to do a lot of indoor projects over the next couple months. See, after several false starts, I have one in progress.
My furry friends, of course, don't quite understand this temperature thing. They ask to go outside at regular intervals expecting to find a cool sunny day to run and play. When they hit the wall of heat, they turn around and want to come back inside again.
We are trying various things to make the heat more acceptable. Today I filled the pool for them to splash around.
We'll also set up the sprinkler for them to run thru.
And best of all there's a big juicy watermelon cooling in the fridge.
I don't think there'll be too many complaints.

The comedian Billy Connolly says there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad wardrobes. We're having rain...several days. We know we need it, but the muddy footprints drive HER nuts. And our games of indoor/outdoor.

We're in for a few more days of rain, then it'll probably be drought again.

Weather is good for striking up conversations.

You don't need the sprinkler for me, or a little pool. Just let me sit somewhere and chomp up that watermelon. That will keep me happy and cool, just keep those other dogs busy with the sprinkler!

Same here, it sure did get very hot very fast. We keep asking to go out, but then we realize maybe we really want to be inside. Mom froze some watermelon in the ice cube trays but only Ciara and Lightning will eat them. TD and Phantom prefer a cold drink of water:)

Stay cool.

OMD, your MOms and my Ma would get along FABulously!! She LOVES it to be 68 degrees, too! If it gets above 85, you would think she was gonna melt into a big pool of goo and die!!
Geesh. Drama.
Okay, Okay, so I likes it cool too, that's why I puts my hinnie right up against the cooly air hole in the wall...ahhhhh
Stay cool guys, and I'll be dreamin' of that Wally Melon!! yummers!!
Kisses,
Ruby

You take one step forward, you then have to take three steps back.. It will cool you down guys :-) :-)

Last night was lovely after the sun went down, but the days are a bit hot for sure. The girls are much more subdued in this weather. Have been making my own 'frosty paws' and the girls love getting these treats a couple times a week. They take them VERY seriously and carefully lick them clean. ha.... Carly has her swimming pool up now, and she will wade in it, but the other two would die before they got in, but use it as a giant water bowl. Stay cool--and the watermelon sounds yummy!

Your new project looks like it will be gorgeous! Sounds like you've come up with lots of great ways to beat the heat. It's hot here too, but that's to be expected here. I think each year I become a bigger wimp about not wanting to deal with the heat. Once Wrigs and I get home from our *early* morning walk, we're mostly inside until sunset.
