Sled Dogs?

Last week we got ten inches of snow and we got another inch yesterday. The weather dude says more is on the way. We wish the temperature would come up a little so we could stay outside and enjoy the white stuff.
Rob dragged the sled out of storage and everyone was very interested.

We've had some funny times with that little sled. When the Portie pups were about six weeks old we had a snowfall. I took them outside one afternoon and they all climbed on the sled and sat down. Under their combined weight the sled took off down the hill and all eight of them just sat there and rode down the hill. Of course I didn't have my camera with me and they never could be coaxed back onto it again.

A couple years ago Rob decided to slide down the hill and the Porties all ran along beside him, but Morgan thought he was in trouble. She raced after him and sank her teeth into his leg to save him. She didn't break the skin but he had a big bruise for a week. Now I hold her if he decides to go sledding.
Everyone was having a good time checking out the sled but no one volunteered to go for a ride this time.

I think it's so sweet that Morgan tried to save her Man from that moving thing! Thor and his predecessor, Sarge, loved to run alongside their children who were sledding. Dogs with people on sleds are simply hilarious! I hope you guys get a reprieve from the temperatures soon, so the Porties, Spotties, and Miscellanies can all get plenty of happy snow romping time without freezing Mom and Dad.

What, OMD, a loud screamer downhill is awesome, I been slidin all over the yard, in fact Me and Bites crashed together and Dad just stood there and laughed!

Another fun post!! But I've seen Todd go after the vacuum more than once, so I have a feeling that if I were to go sledding with the dogs, the same thing that happened to Rob might happen to me too! :-)

I have a big red wagon that has an attachment for skis. We have the skis but maybe we could borrow a portie or two to pull me along. I could one or two in the wagon with me.

My Mom likes to sled, I will send her down and she can ride it. She says she spent most of her young years either swimming in the lake, or in winter, sliding, or skating.

I'm not sure she would still be good at it though.

Stella

The Portie pups sledding down the hill must have been a wonderful sight! Too bad you didn't get a photo (or video). I'm not sure how Wrigs would react to one of us on a sled. I imagine he would bark at us--trying to talk some sense into us. :-)

Mugsy would have ridden a sled, but I don't think either of my girls would.
