Off To A Good Start

Whether we're ready or not, 2016 is here.  So far it seems to be getting off to a pretty good start. This morning and for most of the day, we saw sunshine. That may not seem like much of an accomplishment, but after the week of rain and floods, it's a really big deal.
Mid morning Rob took the dogs into the back yard and Sydney immediately caught a squirrel. That makes our score Dogs 4- Squirrels 0. Maybe the squirrels need to stay alert and pay attention to their surroundings. I'm nor sure this one was listening to his Ipod, it's just a guess.

Next we got to watch hockey the way it's meant to be played, outdoors in the snow. Boston and Montreal played in the Winter Classic and I  got to watch from the comfort of my living room with a blanket over my legs and a cup of tea at hand. It wasn't a great game, but it was hockey, so that makes it good.
I'm in the process of changing the dogs' feeding time from 3:30 to 5. The earlier time was chosen to avoid an issue with a neighbor but it has been bad for the dogs. They have too long a time between their dinner and breakfast the nest morning, so I decided that they are more important than the neighbor and I'm moving their meal time back. The dogs know exactly when the clock strikes 3:30 and start pacing and staring at me. Sebastian comes over and gives me a nudge. I'm doing this in stages, so we're currently at 4:30. Today to make them happier about the change they had a delicious meal of kibble and stew and shrimp tails and broccoli. I think they've forgiven me for making them wait.
Now I get to spend the evening stitching and drinking champagne, surrounded by these furry little creatures that I love. What could be a better start to a new year?

We had a lot of sunshine today too. We actually got rain, sleet, ice, and snow over the weekend. Now it is melting quickly. But it was pretty while we had it.

Mom says to try placing a row of set mousetraps along the edge of the counter to stop that counter surfing. It worked years ago with Dakota.

Happy New Year!

Now that a lot of water! We're 3:30 dogs, although we can wait if SHE's late. We sometimes start lobbying for dinner about 2:30 just so SHE doesn't forget.

(¸.•´ (¸.•` ¤ Happy, Happy New Year, Sue! I wish you and the pack all the best in 2016. Thank-you for the lovely holiday card that you sent!

I also know what you mean about hungry dogs. Those hours between dinner and breakfast can be quite a distance for dogs that live to eat--As many of our dogs do.

I've been following the stories of your rain in our paper, and thankful that it never made it here, because my house would have fallen in. Good luck with changing the dogs' schedule; it's uncanny the way they can tell time.

Sounds like a pretty good start to the year. Hope the year continues that way!

I have been thinking about you all and hoping that you were not under water! An Olympic size mud pool is hard enough with 9 pups! Hopefully you will all dry up soon.

We are having an odd Winter . It looked for a while like we wouldn't even get a white Christmas, but we got some snow ( all I needed!) Usually late December through the end of January is sub-zero weather, anywhere from 10 to forty below. So far, its been fairly warmish (but it could still come!)

I think of you often but not much of a writer these days.

Take good care of yourselves!

I was pretty upset I wasn't AT the hockey game... but I probably would have been more upset to have spent $$$$$ on tickets and saw THAT... ugh!
