Hobbling Toward The Holidays

The countdown has started. Only 15 more days till Christmas. That means things that have to be mailed need to be out about now, but I have the flu.

I haven't written my Christmas cards yet. I'm hoping to tackle them tonight and get them in the mail by this weekend.

There is no wreath hanging on the door. There may not be one this year.
I did manage to sit at the computer long enough to get my shopping done. I do most of my shopping online. The gifts are arriving daily, but so far none are wrapped.

Christmas tree? I don't know. I don't feel like trimming it.

My dogs have been keeping me company as I nap and sniffle around the house. Samba is feeling pretty well, though we have to make numerous trips outside, steroids make one pee a lot. Morgan is sporting her festive plastic cone to remind her not to chew on herself and Tsar has stopped pulling the hair out of his tail, thanks to Benedryl and some soothing lotion.

We're all looking after each other until we're all well again.

Dogs don't really mind taking lots of naps and when I've had chills with my illness, I can call a bunch of them to cuddle with me on the bed. It beats a hot water bottle anytime.

We hope you don't get the flu for Christmas. Stay healthy and warm and dry and you'll be hearing from us soon.

I got some news for you. If you don't send cards, or trim the tree, or wrap the packages, Nothing Happens! You just get well, and in January you send out belated cards or Happy 2010 cards.

I love your living hot water bottles and I am glad your sick pups are doing OK.

All is not lost!

Happy No-Prep Christmas,

Jo

Ryan has had a flu relapse today, so he's snoozing with Thor. It's the right thing to do.

I do almost all of my shopping online, too. I love Sean, the dude in brown. So does Thor, because Sean has cookies.

Hope you feel better soon. Thor sends drooly snuggles to add to the real ones you get from your wonderful pack.

oh no, what a nuisance. but i do love the fact that dogs can sense when one is feeling under par, and they just like to be near to give comfort (and enjoy their naps too). get well as soon as possible, hopefully before xmas. xxx

Hope you're all feeling much better soon. We just have no holiday spirit. I'm fresh back from what should have been a quick trip in town that zapped what little holiday spirit I did have...

So sorry to hear you are ill. We agree with what Stella barked. That has happened here before and nothing happened - everything turned out ok. Just take care of yourself and get better sooon!!

Hope you feel better soon! Being sick is no fun, especially during the holidays.

I miss the days when my pups could snuggle with me in bed. Yup, beats hot water bottles.

So sorry to hear you are ill, Sue. May you get well very soon. In the meantime, don't stress out about the holidays. That lesson took me 30 years to learn. Nothing is more important than your health.

So sorry you have the flu - as if you didn't have enough to contend with!

Being sick is stinky any time, but at the holidays it's really stinky! Good thing you have plenty of pups to help you rest and recover! By the way, sending cards in January means more folks have time to read them. :-)

Dear Sue, I wish I lived close to you - I'd bring you over a pot of chicken noodle soup. Be sure to get plenty of fluids and stay warm.

I know the dogs are a great comfort to you. Last winter when I had some surgery, Lilly stayed right by my side while I was recovering and she was such a wonderful little nurse.

You get better and don't worry about Christmas - I'm fairly certain it will come again next year.

Hugs,
Lynn

I have avoided the flu so far - probably shouldn't say that - but I totally understand feeling lousy now is not fun. I sure hope you get better soon. We are light on the decorating this year. The tree is up and the outside lights are twinkling but with all the kidlets around, it is tough to put out a lot of the special delicate things. One more year and maybe they can be trusted to keep their hands off.

Glad to hear the pups are all doing pretty well.

I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well. Try to rest and take it easy. I think all of us just get to busy at this time of year. You don't want a relapse. I'm glad to hear your little poochies are doing better too.

Ugh. Hope you're feeling better. I doubt I'll get around to the tree or decorating or cards, either. I'm just not "feeling it" this year. Again.
