Sleepy Weekend

Thank you to everyone who sent good wishes to Samba. She's doing well considering the problems she's dealing with. We had no emergency runs to the vet over the weekend and she and I have come up with some routines that help handle her new condition.

She has a little trouble eating, the food falls out the side of her mouth. This doesn't seem to be a big problem except when she's taking her medicine. I found that putting her pills in yogurt helps them slide down and we don't have to worry about them popping out of her mouth.

She's not thrilled about me putting ointment in her eye twice a day, but she tolerates it, especially if there's a treat involved.

On Sunday, Splash, Gracie and J came to visit and brought a big plate of liver brownies. My dogs think those are the best treats they've ever heard of. Tsar had two and came back hoping for a third. Instead they're getting them with their dinner this week. Everyone has cleaned their bowl in anticipation.

I lost quite a lot of sleep last week worrying about my girl, so we've been trying to catch up.

Morgan is a very good napper. She's always happy to head off to the bedroom for a nap, or even a cat-nap on the couch.

When Sky first moved into the bedroom to sleep, he squeezed himself into Lucy's little bed. We bought him a larger bed, but he continued to grow and now his seventy pound body doesn't fit in his bed anymore. It looks like we'll be heading out this weekend to buy an even bigger bed for him.

You all know that I buy stuffed toys at thrift shops for my dogs to play with. I'm sure you've all seen the alert that's going around the lists and blogs. To read my feelings about it, check out Dogs-N-More, where I've given my opinion. Let me know how you feel about it.

We are worried over Samba too and we hope some solution comes your way soonest! We know she is your dearest pup and she gets exemplary care from you. We just want her to get her health back!

We are going to go read your other blog because we buy stuffees and other things at the Second Hand stores, too.

Kisses,
Stella

Hey Samba, I'm so glad to hear you're doing better. I would hate to go through what you have recently; you sure have a good mom, though. Tell her that I bet she is so right about the stuffed toy alarm: that is undoubtedly another internet freakout. grrrr, makes growl-uhm,VOCALIZE--just thinking about it!

Love the photos! My girls are napping without me right now, and I hope that when I get home, after a great greeting and a snack, we can snuggle up and nap together.

Mango did once exhort Thor to tell me to bake Liver Cake, because that's what dogs love, but I just can't bring myself to do so. I'm glad to hear sweet Samba's improving some. Cyber-hugs to her!

Is there any thought that this paralysis is temporary? Poor Samba - she has had a lot to deal with.

Thanks for the other post too about the stuffies. We are pleased so far that Ciara isn't a stuffie destroyer. That can all change with time, but so far she just likes to chew them.

Have a good holiday weekend.

I hope Samba continues to do well. What a trooper she is. I hope that you will be able to have at least a few hours without worrying. Although with that many little ones to take care of I am sure that often is not possible. Sending hugs to everyone.

I am new here, so need to read up to speed about samba, but am sending best wishes. As for stuffies, etc. I think that if you frequently wash them the dangerous "chemical content" is minimized or negated. Any toy, new, preowned, or well loved should be given with supervision (some more than others) for ingestion. We do removed all eyes (etc.) for safety.

I'm glad that Samba's doing okay. I'd like to echo OP's question - is there a chance that this can go away? Poor Samba - she has gone through a lot lately. Give her a kiss for me.

I'm so glad to hear that Samba is doing better. It's so worrisome when our pets are ill. Thank you for the yogart tip. I will try with Charli as she hates to take pills. I hope you and your family have a beautiful and blessed Easter ♥

Sweet Samba, we're glad you're doing better. Sydney has dozens of napping places and even more sleeping positions. Liver brownies ... hmmm. :-)
