Thursday morning we woke up to the sound of the tornado sirens. We don't take them lightly so I jumped out of bed and ran for the TV to see where the storm was and which direction it was heading. It was south of us and was moving fast. The tornadoes went south and east of us, but we had high winds and tons of rain. Once the storm was over we went outside to inspect for any damage.
We were fortunate. We had a few small branches on the ground from the wind. But we have a very helpful and experienced cleanup crew. Morgan was the first to grab a branch.
Fudge found one hanging almost to the ground. With a little help he got it out of the tree.
Norma Jean found another that was hanging.
Bailey spotted a branch on the ground.
She dragged it up the hill where we were collecting the branches.
Norma Jean found a small branch part way down the hill.
She dragged it back up the hill.
She was good at spotting the small branches.
This one looked like it needed immediate mulching.
Tsar was part of the grounds crew.
He tackled a good sized branch.
He thought it might be good for chewing.
Meanwhile Morgan was still working on the first one she found. She chose to settle down in the mud to trim it.
Samba discovered a branch and tried to bring it to us, but with her jaw problems she was having a tough time with it.
Problem solved. She rested the branch across her back and it was easier to drag.
Lola was hard at work, too.
Tsar was trimming the ends off his branch.
Sky's branch was putting up a good fight.
Instead of carrying hers all the way up hill, Lola settled down under the holly to work on it.
Teamwork seemed like a good idea. Tess and Bailey worked together on this branch.
Now that all the damaged branches were collected, the crew settled down to work on the mulching. We've had lots of rain since Thursday and the yard is all muddy, but once the sun comes out again, the crew will get back to work keeping the yard free of broken branches.

Brilliant girl, Samba! I love that you have such a helpful grounds crew. My fur-girls just glared at the stuff in their pen and on the deck and suggested the humans make it go away...
The clean up game looks fun. Bella would have all those branches mulched very quickly--she's part termite. Great job, guys!
XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Thank goodness it was just a few branches!
What good helpers you all are!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
wow, what hard workers you pups are! maybe your mom can rent you out for our yard cleanup too. then afterwards we can take you to the dog park and we can swim in the river! doesn't that sound like fun! we wish you lived next door to us, but we don't like tornadoes at all. we don't want to live in a tornado neighborhood. that sounds really really scary.
woofs.
You could hire these pups out for branch cleanup. Amazing job. I love Samba's solution to her problem and I love Tsar for whatever he does!
Kisses,
Stella (and Jo)
Looks like fun!

I knew you'd have helpers. Thor never collects branches. He just watches his humans do it.
What a fabulous crew you have. And Miss Samba - what an industrious girl you are! g
That sounds like a big job - good thing you had so much help. My foster dog Ziggy (part lumberjack) offered his services if your crew needs help to finish the job. :-)
I am so glad that the storm only left you with some branches down. What a wonderful clean up crew. Do you rent them out?

goodness me, so glad it was only minor, love the fact that the gang all teamed up to get the job done. what sweeties.
Wonderful yard crew you that there! Samba - that was excellent problem solving!
What a great helper crew you've got there!
What a helpful crew you guys are.
Glad to see that it was just a few branches.
Sorry to be so late in posting but we had a very hectic family weekend on top of Ciara coming into season wayyyyyyy too early. We had those storms go through here too overnight Wednesday. We were very fortunate because a serious of microbursts went through our area, one only 3/4 mile away. It did quite a bit of damage to the roofs of our parish school. But thankfully no one was hurt.
We chuckled at the ingenuity of Samba:)

What great pics! We really enjoyed this post although we know storms are no fun.
It was the sight of all your many helpers.
We think it is great the way dogs can turn most situations into a game!

What wonderful helpers! They are so cute! Is Tsar a portugese water dog also?
