500th Post

Welcome to our 500th post. I never expected to have enough to say to fill this many blog posts, but my furry companions have given me plenty to write about and continue to do so.

We've been sharing our highs and lows, good times and bad times with you and you've offered us friendship, advice and laughter and even shared our tears at times. Thank you.

This morning we paid a visit to Dr B with Tsar. About a week ago Tsar scraped his nose. We're not sure how he did it, but my best guess is that while hunting for mice, he shoved it under a rock. I put antibiotic ointment on it all last week and watched it closely, but this morning the little bumps were spreading across his nose.

After a careful examination, Dr B confirmed that he has some infection and now Tsar is taking antibiotic capsules twice a day. He'll be getting warm compresses on his nose along with the ointment and I'm sure in about a week, he'll be good as new and back to hunting again.

Yesterday afternoon Rob was hungry so we went out for a snack. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered some potato skins, ate a couple and brought the rest home. When we arrived home it was time to feed the dogs, so I set the box of potato skins and an open soda can on a cabinet in the garage and proceeded to feed the dogs.

Rob stood in the garage chatting with me as the dogs ate and then were sent outside. Tsar is always the last one to finish eating and by the time he was done, several of the others were at the door ready to come back inside. I opened the door, sent Tsar out and brought Samba, Bailey and Norma Jean into the garage.

I left Rob and the three girls in the garage and went outside to round the others up. When I came back, Rob had gone upstairs and left the three girls alone in the garage.

I opened the door to see the three of them finishing off my potato skins and the soda that they had overturned onto the floor. All that was left was a small container of ranch dressing. I'm sure they would have eaten that, too if they'd had a few more minutes.

I know Porties are thieves. It was Rob that I blamed for leaving them alone with my food. I received a typical male response, "Oh, I didn't think about it." Duh!!!

So you see, I have daily adventures with this wave of pups and we love to share them with all of you. Thanks for stopping by and sharing our posts. We treasure all of you.

Don't forget, this is your last chance to enter the mystery prize drawing. Just leave a comment and you're automatically entered. How easy is that? I'll give you all a couple days, then we'll announce the winner.

Well apparently the girls were in the mood for something starchy, eh? LOL.....

Zeus & Lola had a V-E-T trip last night as well..... and thankfully Zeus' lump we had the vet check out seems to be nothing more than (yet another) fatty lump.....

Congrats on #500!!! That is a very pretty cake - hope the pups get to have some too. Phantom likes potato skins but only with butter - picky picky.

We know all about ouchies from unknown sources, antibiotics, and hot compresses. Hope Tsar heals quickly.

Congrats on 500 post - isn't it amazing what we find to write about. I never thought when I started that it would be something that I'd continue either.

Bet the Porties enjoyed the snack - my pups always love to see a white box when I come home.

I don't blame the girls for eating your potato skins, but the soda? And of course Rob didn't think about it! Mine would have done the same and have been known to steal food right off the stove.

Congrats on 500! Are you sure? g

I can picture the three girls helping themselves to potato skins. I don't blame them - that's definitely one of my favorite comfort foods.

Congrats on 500, and we can't wait to see what the next 500 bring.

Congrats on #500, Sue and Porties!

I had a pretty good hunch of the ending of the potato skins, I just couldn't name the culprits!

The cake is very beautiful and I know everyone will get a piece.

I hope my favorite guy Tsar keeps his sunny side up through this infection, I'm betting he will, but what is he like to give pills to?

Have fun at the big celebration! Wish we could join you.

Kisses,
Stella (and Jo)

Congratulations on your 500th! And..um...sorry about the potato skins. They had cheese on them, huh? It's hard to control oneself when confronted with cheese.

I'm so glad you've amused us with your Portie stories. A favorite around our house is the blender running without its lid and the dogs helping you clean up afterward...

Glad to hear that Tsar's nose isn't serious. I think he's really just a small mastiff in different fur, because he and Thor are so alike.

Congrats on #500, and, remember, never leave Rob to guard your food!

I nearly forgot that today was the big 500th post celebration so congratulations, Sue, for a job well done! How could you think you wouldn't have enough "material" for 500 posts is beyond me; your dogs are completely entertaining and you are a talented writer and that's that.
How nice of Rob to take you out for a 500th post celebration but I'm sorry you got a typical male response after finding the dogs had snacked on your potato skins and soda!
Congratulations and thank you for being such a delightful blogger!
