I thought you might like to meet our neighbors.
Up until last year, cattle used to graze in this big pasture.
The herd has grown, thanks to the Big Daddy Buffalo who stands guard over his family.
These youngsters are curious about us and come up to the fence to check us out.
In the background is a mama and her new calf. This baby is only a few hours old.
This guy is scratching his head on the post.
Now really, would you trespass here?
Can you image herds of millions of these big guys roaming freely?
It must have been quite a sight.

We used to have a herd about a mile up the road. Impressive creatures!
Is sure is some sight... do becareful of them horns and don't get too near ya...
Uh, NO, I would not even think of trespassing! They are certainly pretty and the young ones are so precious!
thanks for sharing with us!
These critters are famous for having bad tempers, especially when there are baby ones of them around, so you Porties be careful!
My Mom likes to think of the days when buffalo roamed the world (and its not unusual to see a field of them these days.)
Kisses,
Stella
I really do need to post the pictures from our visit to the Terry Bison Ranch! We love them, and learned a lot about them.
These are actually Western American Bison. Their larger cousins, the Eastern American Bison, were all killed off by 1800. The city of Buffalo had a reason for its name!
I remember stories about how 19th century men used to ride trains to the Great Plains and shoot hundreds of these animals and just let them rot in the field.
I guess they would litter up civilization if they all still roamed.
What a wonderful site. I think they are Beautiful animals. I also love the top picture of the mom and her pups running. They are so cut.
We absolutely would respect the No Tresspassing sign. We like those huge animals on the OTHER side of the fence!
Love ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
Anyone dumb enough to tresspass, probably needs to be eliminated from the gene pool!
Great looking animals. We watched a show last night that has computer generated pictures of the vast herds in the past.
XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Oh, maybe you'd better not chase them.
We don't see many of them here! My mum saw some in the wildlife park and they are big and mean lookin'.
They seems to like it there though!
Tail Wuggles, Rubie.
Dose buffalo is AMAZING! How lucky you is to lives so close to a whole herd!
Woofs and Licks,
Maggie Mae
They are really big creatures!!! Mom says she saw buffalo in the show at the Dixie Stampede in Branson. We think we might keep our distance from those big horns.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
are buffalo burgers good?

WOW - you have SUPER cool neighbors! And yes, I will make sure we get pictures of my baby brother up as soon as he decides to arrive!! We're so anxious to meet him.

It must have been something to see...
Oh, lovely! The babies especially.
What beauties!!!!!!! :) I just FINALLY splurged on a skein of buffalo gold yarn and need to pick something nice to knit.
oh my goodness, and when I think of our neighbours...two noisy kids and a scrappy unkempt garden...I would rather have the buffalo.
Heavens, those guys have BIG noses! Do they ever get loose? We've got a Beefalo ranch down the road from our Grandma's place in New Hampshire, but your new neighbors look a bit wilder.
Cheers,
Buster, Sephie, Bailey & Gracie
