A Night Of Surprises

Hi everybody,

It sure is hot here where we live. We tell Mom we want to go out to play, but as soon as she opens the door, we change our minds, even crazy Bailey.

Yesterday it was a super hot day and we all laid around inside all day. Then at 7 last night Dad took us outside and he had a surprise for us. He filled our little wading pool with nice cold hose water.
The girls were the first ones in, as usual.

There was a lot of splashing, but that's OK. Dad put the pool on the hill so that the water that splashed out would give a drink to the cherry tree. That poor tree is having a hard time because we haven't had rain in a whole month.

Mom said the dirty water that was left over would help the tree. But mostly we just had a really good time splashing and getting really wet. Bailey and Sky stayed up the hill ad didn't want to get wet, but Lola was having so much fun in the pool that Mom said she can go to the lake next week.
We were all so busy that we didn't notice when Dad went into the garage. When he came out he whistled for us, because he had another surprise.
Watermelon, cold and sweet!

Boy, did that ever taste good on a hot summer night. We all had some except Morgan who was in the house. When it was mostly gone, Samba got in the pink bucket finished it off.
While the girls were rolling around to dry off, I got a chance to have some time in the pool without them shoving and splashing.

Then we all went inside to relax, but Mom and Dad didn't forget about Morgan. She couldn't play in the pool because her legs are still hurt, but she could eat watermelon. There's nothing wrong with her mouth.

After we all went to bed and were asleep and dreaming, we had another surprise. We had RAIN !!!!!
There was a big, loud storm with lots of boomers. It woke us up and Morgan got scared, but Mom and Dad were really happy because the grass and plants were getting too thirsty.

That's a lot of great surprises for one day.
Your pal, Fudge

We haven't been able to get decent watermelon here in a couple of years. The only thing we can find is those small seedless ones, and they just aren't as sweet as the big ones. Glad Dad had a surprise for all of you, and I'm sure the yard was happy for the surprise rain storm!
