A Poem

Oh what unhappy twist of fate
Has brought you, homeless, to my gate?
The gate where yet another stood,
In search of shelter, warmth and food.

From that day I ceased to be
The master of my destiny.
I can't believe I never saw
How within my house, he became the law.

He chewed my furniture and he shed,
He claimed the middle of my bed.
He loved me unconditionally and I can't  deny....
He broke my heart the day he died.

So you who stands here on my mat,
Do you think I want to relive all that?
You just showed up, forlorn and thin.....

Don't just stand there......come on in!

This was sent to me last night by Border Collie Mom and had me sobbing. I miss Tsar so much that it's a constant pain in my heart, but now Sebastian and I will face new challenges and adventures together. Life goes on and there's always a dog out there somewhere that needs a friend and some love.

I write this through teary eyes, like you missing the character that was Tsar (never having met him but loving what he was) From your first post about this dog who came to your neighbor's door I felt strongly he was from Tsar. I am Irish so I believe in all other worldly events!

Beautifully written and graciously received!

(Where is Sebastian, by the way?)

What a beautiful post, Sue! You're right, you never get over missing those special dogs, and no dogs can take their place, but pups like Sebastian need us and fill the hole that's left.

Somehow i knew you will end up taking him in... you have the purest heart of gold Sue.

I think Tsar might have sent him to you.. to help you heal.

Always love this poem.

Who wouldn't cry reading that poem and remembering Tsar? I know your heart is big enough for one more and Sebastian is one lucky guy. Big hugs.

I know you miss Tsar terribly, but it was wonderful of you to invite Sebastian into your home. And so nice that he's even tempered and healthy.

And I love Bailey's new collar. Monkey must be proud to be so immortalized!
