Oops, I Did It Again

I've been happily stitching along lately, alternating between knitting and cross stitch. Then Sunday I started feeling some unpleasant twinges in my left hand.
I have tendonitis in both hands and both wrists. I ignored the pain and continued to stitch.
Monday night the pain was too strong to ignore, but I did anyway. By Tuesday morning I knew I was in trouble so I decided to rest my hands and apply ice.
You don't know how hard it is for me to not stitch in the evenings. I tried playing some computer games but even that hurt. Then I tried reading but I was distracted by the dogs and television, so I finally tried a few stitches and it didn't feel too bad.

This morning I knew before I even got up that I have to rest my hands for a couple days. The pain had spread from my hands up past my wrists. I've been very good so far today and haven't touched my needles. I've been applying ice every couple hours, too. The pain is just a dull ache right now and I hope that by Friday I'll be able to get back to work.

It looks like a couple of my Christmas gifts might be a little late but I know that the recipients will understand. I have a future project that I can't wait to start but I'm waiting till after Christmas so I won't be distracted. Here it is, isn't it beautiful? I need my hands to be in good shape for this one.
I first saw this design in a catalog a couple years ago but the designer only does kits and I don't usually buy kits. I prefer to choose my own materials and colors. Still I considered buying this till I saw the price. Depending on where I looked, it ranged from $160 to $230. That is more than I'm willing to pay.

I knew that eventually someone would buy the kit and try to make some of their money back by selling the chart. I waited and watched and last month my patience paid off. Someone was selling the chart on Ebay. Not only that but she was charging only ten dollars. I snapped it up and now I'm so excited about starting it.
So, Morgan and I are resting together. I'm trying to not use my hands and she's ignoring the stitches in her face. She's actually doing a better job than I am. It's really hard to not use your hands at all. She's more interested in the shaved area on her front leg where she had an IV than she is in the stitches in her face. We make a great pair, a couple old girls on the disabled list.

OMD, you and my Ma have the same problems!! (no surprise there!! BOL)
She says it goes in waves. Sometimes she can go a long time without any problems, then BLAMO! It hits, and it takes months to heal. And 'I' have to listen to the moanin' and complaining!
Geesh. Anyhu, I am sendin' you healin' vibes and lots of AireZens! Oh, and maybe some ear plugs for the pups if your Moms is anythings like mine! ☺
Oh, Ma wanted to let you know she was yellin' at the TV last night too! She said something abouts 'hell in a handbasket' what ever that means!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥

How about a brace for your hand? I have one for each paw and they help greatly.

Hoping you find something that works!

Oooh, that design is just beeYOUtiful!! Momma does cross-stitch too, but it takes her a long time. She just finished a big family tree that she's giving to my uncle and his new wife for Christmas!

I hope you're both feeling better - less twitchy for you, less itchy for Morgan - already!

That new project is amazing. You're going to tempt me to try cross stitching again now that I have gotten used to my Progressives.
