One Handed Holiday

Christmas this year is going to be a quiet affair. My tendinitis has gotten much worse to the point where I have only limited use of my left hand. I have an appointment with a specialist on the 18th, yeah I know it's ages away, to have it evaluated for surgery. I'm still hoping to avoid surgery and that a steroid injection will calm it down.

We're taking the holiday in stages, so I bought new blankets for the Portie girls. They all sleep in crates and I warm their blankets in the dryer on cold nights so they can make comfy nests. They'll get these as soon as they go thru the wash.
I bought a couple of Christmas collars, too. I wanted to get one for each of them but it started getting pretty expensive. Instead I decided to start making them. Now with the hand not working, they'll have to wait for next year. On Sunday we put the green one on Norma Jean and the red one on Tess. I felt bad when Lola and Bailey each came up to get theirs. Then I felt really bad when Sebastian demanded one, too. Finally Rob took Sebastian's collar off, walked away with it for a few minutes, then came back and put it back on him. He thought he had a new fancy collar and strutted around showing it off. I promised them that next year they'll all have new collars for the holidays.
This Christmas there won't be any cookies unless I stand by Rob and instruct him on baking them. Like most men, he likes to take shortcuts and in baking that can result in a disaster.

So this Christmas my gifts seem to be a new water heater and a patched up hand. Ok, sounds good to me.

Bummer about your hand. Hope the needle will improve it.

Our mom so sympathizes with you about your wrist, Miss Sue. The steroid injection didn't work for her and she did have the surgery. We're sending lots of positive vibes your way!

Love ya lots♥

I'm glad Rob was able to convince Sebastian that he was all decked out for the holiday!

Re: the water heater, BOTH of mine sprung leaks in early November. I got 2 hot water heaters for Christmas, plus a new well pump check valve the Monday before Thanksgiving. How's that for bad luck? At least I don't need carpal tunnel repairs.

Poor Sebastian - such a dear boy:) We are so hoping you can get some relief for your hand and arm. You know, you can always have Christmas in January or February - the cookies will taste just as good then:)

Take care.

Well we think that you did a fine job on the collars that you did get done. Smart idea, slipping their old ones off for a few minutes before slipping it back on. I'm sure one or two of them caught on to you but a favorite treat will reinstate you in their minds as the best mom around. We're okay for the most part but the person who lasers me (Sam) is lasering my dad's elbows because he injured them carrying really heavy stuff. My dad says they not only feel better but he can lift stuff without pain. We're in for a quiet and modest Christmas too. The care and feeding of 4 dogs takes a lot but you probably know all that already (with 8). Hope your tendinitis calms down.

Sophie is always all about a new blankie... shhh, don't you dare tell her about warming them in the dryer before bed. She'll have me doing that every hour!

We hope they're helping you take good care of that hand. Even if I stood right beside the Knight and coached, he'd still change something that would yield undesirable results. He cooks, I bake. The end.

We're crossing paws and sending healing thoughts your way.
