Fa La La La La

When I take the dogs into the back yard to play, I often sing to them. I have a terrible voice, but my dogs don't mind. In fact, I think they enjoy it. There I am behind my 6 foot fence singing to my pack and even if someone hears me, they can't see me and I can't see them.

Last night, around 8 o'clock we all trooped into the back yard and I started singing 'Deck The Halls'. Lola came over and sat directly in front of me and when I came to the fa la la part, she barked along. That inspired me and I did my best howl. They all stopped in their tracks, came toward me and since I had their attention, I continued to howl. All ten, Tsar was in the house, joined in, threw their heads back and howled. I'm sure the neighbors wondered what was going on.

We kept it up for awhile, then I went in and got Rob to join us. When I opened the door I heard Tsar howling in the living room. Rob came out and we all howled for a few minutes, then we went back inside. The dogs were charged up and each got a cookie. I must admit I felt as charged up as the dogs. I had a little trouble getting to sleep last night, but finally slept deeply with good dreams. I woke up this morning ready to accomplish lots.

If you don't have close neighbors, or have understanding neighbors, I recommend a group howl. Invite the neighbors to join in.

As you all know, I am completely obsessed with dogs, all dogs, big, small, all colors, shapes, pedigreed and hopelessly mixed. Of course I decorate my house with dogs, even at Christmas.

Aren't these three cute? Rob gave them to me a couple years ago.

A talented lady in California named Michelle Toland has created several PWD sculptures for me. This one has two dogs in a sleigh with gifts. It's a pretty good sized piece.

This one was made by Youlia Anderson. I have a number of her pieces in my collection. She does beautiful work.

This is one of my favorites. I bought it when I had only five dogs and it made me laugh. It's titled "Knowing Who's Naughty".

In our house we have mostly naughty dogs.

My inlaws LOVED to howl with Fred. None of my JRTs have ever been able to howl "properly" and now, I have the world's only non-howling basset. Sigh.

LOVE your doggy Christmas decor!

I sing to my dogs, and Mugsy would obey commands given in French or English. I started speaking to the girls in French this morning, and it does seem to get their attention, even when it's in the teens outside and they're very frisky when they come in.
