The Twelve Days Of Christmas

We have a different version of the song at our house. Here it is.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me:

Twelve fleecy blankets,

Eleven dogs all barking,

Ten bags of dog food,

Nine cups of yogurt,

Eight fancy dishes,

Seven brand new collars,

Six bags of biscuits,

Five kinds of treats,

Four comfy beds,

Three leashes,

Two chirping birds,

And our toy box filled with lots of new toys.

On a serious note, we received some terrible news today. Monty, our big boy and self appointed guard dog, was diagnosed with cancer this morning. He has had a cough for about ten days and last night his breathing seemed labored. He climbed the stairs very slowly this morning and didn't have much appetite. We went to the vet and I expected a heart problem. The chest x-ray showed his lungs full of cancer. We are awaiting the results of his blood work but it won't change much.

This will be our last Christmas with Monty and we plan to make him as comfortable as possible for as long as he can stay with us.

I was hoping for a heart problem too...or bronchitis or something simple. Looking at that x-ray to day gave me one of those horrible "oh my god, I don't want to tell someone this" moments that I hate. Especially when you have to tell a friend. I hope we can make Monty comfortable for awhile. We'll be thinking of you.

Oh Sue, I'm so very, very sorry. I hope that Monty is as comfortable as can be. Having just dealt with a sick dog - I know how you heart feels right now. Let me know if there is anything I can do. g
