I Think I Can

A strange thing happened today. It stopped raining and the sun put in an appearance. It was the perfect day to bob for apples.

Rob cut the apples in quarters.

Noah was the first to try.

He got one right away.

It tasted delicious.

Norma Jean stuck her face in the water and caught an apple.

Tess wanted an apple and gave it a try, but she had trouble catching one.

Bailey came over for a try.

Bailey snagged an apple immediately and took it off to enjoy it.

Tess was still trying.

Morgan grabbed an apple on the first try.

Tess was having a really hard time. Everyone else was grabbing apples, chomping them up and coming back for more, but she was still trying to catch one. My instinct was to help her, but Tess lacks confidence and I know that helping her isn't what's best for her.

Noah was back for the third time.

Morgan was on her fourth apple.

Fudge was looking over the apples to select the right one.

No cheating, Fudge.

He made a grab and snagged an apple.

Noah was back yet again.

Samba made it look easy. She just stuck her head in the water and got one.

She laid down to savor hers.

Fudge is back for another try.

Tsar doesn't like the water and told us that he wanted an apple but had no intention of geting wet.

Rob handed him his apple.

Sky also doesn't like to get his head wet, so he sat up nicely and was handed one.

He enjoyed it without getting wet.

Finally, Tess grabbed an apple. She didn't give up even though she had a much harder time than the others.

That was the best tasting apple!! She went back and tried again and by the end of the game she had eaten three apples. Great job, Tessie.

I love the picture of Bailey eating the apple. She looks like she found a corner away from all of the commotion to eat it in peace.

It must have been hard not helping Tess. What a great job she did in the end though. What a fun day they all had.

Well done Tess - we were right with you through that story with our paws crossed that you would snag an apple before Noah came back again!!
We have discovered that we like apples too.
We have been trying different things and apples have been the only thing we seem to like.

Perseverance pays off, doesn't it Tess! A good lesson for us all!

Yay Tess!! I'm so proud of you!!

And of you and Rob... It's so hard to let them do it on their own, isn't it? Gretchen has a VERY distinct "ME DO IT!!" look that tells all of us - even Sissy - to back off and let the little one do it herself.

A little lesson today from Tess!

Thanks for not giving up, and unlike your Mom, I would have probably given you one and deprived you of your pleasure in getting THREE! Two lessons for me today,

Cheers and hugs,
Jo and Stella

Way to go Tess! That's the way to perservere girl! Sue, this game looks like so much fun. Now I just need to come up with a Chihuahua-sized version and see if they will get their faces wet for a treat!

I remember this game from last year. Poor Tsar, not wanting to be left out; I understand, because I wouldn't want my face in the water, either!

Apple bobbing, how fun!!! We had a nice day yesterday too, but oh what a day today - rain, rain, rain, and those heavy torrential downpours!!! Mom says she shouldn't complain too much, it could have been snow - what is she talking about - we WANT snow.

woos, the OP Pack

That is SO adorable! A couple of weeks ago my daughter-in-law was making applesauce. The kids were at the table with the apple peeler helping out their mom. What was going on over in the corner? Their two dogs had their heads in the bushel of apples grabbing one for themselves. Those two dogs then went into the living room, settled down with their prize between their paws and ate the whole thing loving each and every minute!
