Shopping

Here we are in December again. It certainly comes around faster than it did when I was little. Then it seemed like Christmas would never get here and now it seems like the last one just ended. Hmm... what does that say about me?
Anyway, this is a busy time of year for most everyone. No matter what holiday you celebrate or even if you don't celebrate a specific holiday, there's a lot going on in December. This year with two dogs in the cone of shame, we'll probably not put up a tree, but I plan to bake lots of cookies of both the human and canine kind. We'll be getting together with friends and of course there's shopping.

I have to think about shopping a little early because many of our gifts get mailed out and I don't like waiting till the last minute. I usually do most if not all my shopping online and this year is no exception. It appeals to me to sit at the computer in my robe and bare feet sipping a glass of wine on Black Friday as others push and shove in the stores.

In case you're stuck for a gift or a stocking stuffer or one last little thing for a friend or, one of my favorite things for a special little something for yourself, I have a suggestion. We all know that with the lousy world economy we want to make our money go as far as possible and here's a way to get two gifts for the cost of one.

Check out these two sites. First is The National Canine Cancer Foundation. I would guess there's not  a pet family that hasn't had to deal with this heartbreaking disease. I've lost several dogs, Pylon, Monty and Tsar to cancer. When you purchase a gift from this site, your money goes to research to fight back against canine cancer.

You can choose from jewelry, clothing, holiday ornaments and even some lovely urns for those who have lost friends to cancer.

The next site is a delight to look through. It's The Animal Rescue Site. There are so many wonderful things available that it's hard to choose.

When you make a purchase here, your money buys food and shelter for homeless animals. Can it get any better? You get a lovely little bauble or comfy jacket and many needy animals get a nourishing meal. How's that for a win win situation.

Check out these beautiful ornaments. If you've recently lost a fur kid, as I have, these take on a special meaning. They aren't just for the upcoming holidays, but can hang in the window or a special spot in honor of those no longer with us.

You'll be amazed at the reasonable prices on these items and they're gifts that will always be remembered by the recipient. You will also have that great feeling of knowing that you've helped those in need. Sebastian says check them out. He thinks you'll find something you like.

Our moms think alike on the shopping front. Rude people make Christmas shopping no fun! We're off to check out the links! Thank you!

We really love shopping at the Animal Rescue Site. In fact...me and my pack sneak into Mom's purse to get her plastic thingy and we shop for doggie treats and toys all night long while Mom is sleeping! She'll never know! :)

What wonderful resources. I bought 2 stained glass paw prints yesterday and spent a lot of time today looking for letters to hang from them. One for Dudley and one for Lucy. I plan to hang them in the kitchen when it's not the holidays. g

Those are some nice ornaments and whatnot. Glad for the ideas, because I too try to do all of my shopping online; I detest the crowds. You know it's bad when a nationally syndicated columnist says Black Friday wasn't as bad as it could have been because nobody died!

Tell Sebastian he's just adorable, even wearing his cone.
