Today is my birthday. The rest of the world is celebrating the Superbowl, but my little group is celebrating with me. Rob suggested breakfast out this morning, so once all the dogs were fed, run and settled, we put Morgan and Sky in the car and took off for our favorite breakfast place, Ziggies.
Morgan always goes, but the others take turns. Today was Sky's turn and he's a good rider. They sat in the back seat and looked out the window.
At Ziggies we were greeted by our friend Brendon, the manager. He's a special person and a wonderful cook. He made us a special dinner one evening that was the best meal we've had since moving to Springfield.
I cast an eye at the cakes as I walked by. What's a birthday without a cake? Still, there's something pathetic about having to make your own birthday cake.
After a tasty breakfast that Brendon insisted on buying for me, he and several of the staff sang to me and brought me a piece of raspberry cheesecake.
Morgan and Sky shared some steak and bacon as their treat for being good travelers. When we got home I opened the gift that my best friend Sue had sent earlier in the week.
There was a card and two wrapped packages.
One package was this oh so soft baby frog. There were ten pairs of eyes looking at him as though he would be a lot of fun to tear up. He'll be living on a high shelf.
The other package held some windchimes with this beautiful frog attached. I have some lovely windchimes that I have either been given or purchased over the years and we plan to make a protected area to hang them. I always think of the scene in the movie Body Heat with all the chimes hanging on the porch and blowing in the breeze. I want something like that.
Next Rob and I are heading for the book store. I have a gift card to spend on a new book. I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than visiting a book store. Later if Rob wants to watch the football game, I'll do some knitting and snack on tea and chocolates.

Happy birthday!
I haven't had a birthday cake in years because I won't make my own and refuse to ask JB to do it for me.
Sounds like you had a perfectly lovely day. Did you get some time in your studio or are you avoiding it?
What did you get at the bookstore? Anything good. g

Happy birthday! Sounds like a lovely day. Will Skye give my girls lessons? Gretchen's not a bad rider (minus the motion sickness), but Sissy is RESTLESS.
