We're all doing our best to stay cool during this early heat wave. On the way home from the grocery store I saw this herd of cows enjoying a cool dip in the pond.
They were standing in the water up to their bellies and seemed to be having a very good time.
For our afternoon outing I thought my pack might enjoy a cool treat. I opened a bag of baby carrots straight from the refrigerator, cool and nutritious.
I gave all my puppies carrots when they were little and starting to teethe. They were the right size for a little pup to chew on, cold to numb the sore gums and good for them. If they ate them, no harm done.
Evereyone gathered under the tree to see what was in the little box.
They have to sit and wait for their turn, no jumping on me and no acting rowdy.
I was surprised how gently everyone took their carrots from my hand. I had no bitten fingers.
There were enough for everyone to have several.
They're used to taking turns each night when they get their yogurt, so they were doing the same thing today.
Some of them wander away to eat their carrot, then hurry back into line.
Sky tries running from one end of the line to the other to get extras, but I'm onto him.
We're getting near the end of the carrots.
That's it kids. Some of them want to sniff the box to be sure there are no more.
Wow, those tasted great. Let's do it again really soon. How do you stay cool?

Oh, they are all so lovely - you have quite the pack there. Dakota always loved carrots. Thunder does too, but picky Phantom turns his snooter up to them.
Tail wags, the OP Pack
Nice cold carrots will help keep you cool and they'll help clean your toofies too! We love carrots too!
Mom says that when she sprinkles lupine seeds she sprinkles them underneath violet leaves or very near established plants so the older plants protect and water the seeds and seedlings with dew! It seems to work for us! Hope this helps!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
OUr guys love baby carrots. They get some every night when we finish dinner. That's their 'share' of our dinner.
My poor guys are about to croak. It's 89* in the house!
What a great group they are, waiting so patiently for their carrots. What a great healthy treat for a hot summer day. It's starting to heat up here to now and I am hoping it won't get as hot as it is in your area.

My boys LOVED baby carrots, but the girls? Not so much. Interestingly enough, this was dinner conversation Sunday night. My sister's lab (roughly the same age as Sissy) won't eat raw carrots of any sort, but CRAVES cooked carrots. The inlaws' shelties LOVE 'em, as does the cocker next door to them.
Our kids all adore their baby carrots as well!
Your guys are always so well behaved. Sky is a dog after my own heart - Fudge better start being super cute :) g
i've missed visiting this week. and what a pleasureable time i am having here enjoying all the carrot fun with them too.
