From Above

Tonight Rob took the dogs out around 7 and I thought I'd sneak onto the deck above them, watch them play and maybe get some pictures. I enjoy standing up there and watching them run around when they don't know I'm there. Tonight they heard me open the door so first I was greeted with lots of barking.

Bailey thought she could jump up to where I was standing. They used to try that a lot when they were little. They had no concept of how high they could jump.

Once they saw that I wasn't going to throw any balls to them, they went ahead and continued their play.

This week has flown by. We were very busy. Noah is out of confinement now and is part of the pack again. So far we've had no problems between him and Fudge. Fudge still growls and pushes him, but Noah is ignoring him. Good Boy, Noah!

Both Fudge's ears were bright red on Sunday, but we have them under control now. We're cleaning them daily and getting some anti-biotic ointment rubbed on the flaps. Samba, Morgan and Sky each have one ear that was red and sore, but they're all better now.

Sky and Fudge and Tess had red eyes and they're producing a lot of tears. They're all getting allergy tablets twice a day and Sky has had some eye drops. They all seem better.

Fudge was chewing on one foot, but after inspecting it for a cut or a stone lodged under the pad, I didn't find anything. I soaked the foot in a betadine soak, then put some anti-biotic ointment between the pads and squished it around. So far today he's paid no attention to it.

It sounds like I'm running an infirmary here, doesn't it? Just part of having ten active dogs.

Be sure to visit all the doggies on Dogs on Thursday and tell them 'Hi'.

Hello there!

We just found a lost german shepherd wondering around the neighbourhood for a few days now and now that makes the number of dogs at Dog Woods TEN!

We've been quite good lately - with no running ailments to treat. :)

Only the new dog - who's mightily skinny and malnourished. The Chief suspects he's been abandoned by the minor wounds on his paws and snout.

Holy Porti! That's a lot of water dogs. You have quite the pack. They're adorable.

..great blog, we'll be checking back soon! And I hope everyone's ears feel better.

Yay Noah!! Sissy needs a trip to the vet for her ears, and to confirm that the bone mass on her shoulders is just normal basset thick bone stuff.

I love your dogs. Lucy jumps straight up too - we call her Kanga-Lu when she does it. It's cute.

Your dogs are lovely. We have feet chewing issues and nothing we do helps Miss Lucy. What is it you soaked Fudge's feet in? g

What a great bunch! I love seeing them running around in your garden, they always look like they are having some great adventure.
It is just about a full time job Sue making sure that every one of them is ok. It's so great that you are able to stay on top of all those little ailments before they become big ones.

It's always nice to be able to just watch while you relax. Nine 2 footed kids and one dog or 10 dogs, I'm not sure which would be more tiresome! Happy DoT a day late!
