It's Thursday Again

Well, here it is Thursday already. Be sure to check out Dogs On Thursday today. Nicki has written an article for those who might be thinking about getting started in agility. There are some wonderful photos, thanks to Amanda at Many Muddy Paws and her adorable models Wicca and Boone. (I am in love with Boone, check out the fuzzy gray dog).

My dogs love to play. Samba always wants me to throw the ball for her to chase.

She brings it back and drops it in front of me. Then she stands there staring at the ball as if it's going to spring into my hand all by itself.

Whe the pups were little we gave them a number of different things to play with to challenge them. They had a ramp that they had to learn to walk up without walking off the end. Rob made a teeter for them and they had to learn to balance on it.

One of the things they most enjoyed was the trampoline.

They made up a game. One puppy would get underneath the trampoline and the others would either get on top or run around the sides and the one under had to protect his or her space and not let any of the others under. They all seemed to love this game and played it for hours taking turns being the one defending the space.

When they got a little older they would chase each other around the yard and under the trampoline was a safe spot. The dog being chased would crawl under to rest and the others waited until that one came out and the chase could continue. Eventually they grew too big to fit under the trampoline, so now the space under the swing is a safe area. They all understand that if a dog runs under the swing the others have to wait and can't touch the one resting. When he or she comes out from under the swing they can be chased or jumped on.

I'm not sure how they decide on the rules to the games, but they all understand them.

Maybe these little gab sessions are where the rules are discussed.

Hi Sue! We've just been to DOT as our first post is up for the meme....we finally got round to joining in! We also visited the other blogger (must be early, there's just the three of us at the moment)
Thank you so much for the award, it really means alot to us, especially since most of our blog friends are overseas from us but blogging somehow makes the world seem smaller!
I find reading about pack dynamics and psychology so fascinating and your lot are a brilliant example to follow....it's great how they all understand each other, know their place within the pack and just get along.....and your photos always seem to convey their personalities, I love the 2nd photo of Samba waiting for her ball to jump into your hand, she's so focused- priceless!
Happy DOT and slobbers from our pack to yours xx
(re: your email, I will get the links sorted tonight hopefully)

Or, they could be plotting to see how much mischief they can get into today. Whatever it is, it sure is cute!!! I love to start my day with pics of your crew. And thanks so much for the tag.

Congrats on the award! Your pack is delightful. I think that perhaps I'll have the Knight build some thinking/balancing toys for the pen when/if he ever gets to those steps for the deck...

Oh I love your kids. They truly behave like little people, but usually better mannered. You could always put the trampoline on risers. g

It looks to me like the dogs are plotting their next moves. Today it's the game; next week, they may take over the house...beware!

I love that they know the rules to their games!

LOL....I love the pow-wows to discuss the rules idea. My Sasha plays ball by exactly the same rules as your dog does.

They really do look like they are making plans when they are all huddled together, maybe it's better that you don't know! Congrats on your award, it is very well deserved.

I'm sure dogs have regular discussions about various subjects. Actually they tell us rules too, we hoomans just don't understand it.
