Bring On The Fish # Chewy Influencer

Miss Norma Jean is an itchy dog. For about a year now we've been fighting an unknown source of her itchiness. We've done three food sensitivity tests where she didn't eat dog food, but it didn't help. She has taken several different antihistamines, but none helped. She tried Apoquel which is supposed to work differently to stop the itch, but it didn't work for her.
Dr B has examined her several times but nothing seems to tell us why she wants to scratch and chew on herself constantly.

So I've decided to think outside the box. She's getting extra fish oil capsules and is getting coconut oil on her dinner. Since fish oil seems to be good for the skin she's currently eating a diet of rice cooked with pumpkin and spinach. To that I add a little cooked pork loin, coconut oil and best of all, some Zignature Salmon Limited Ingredient Formula Grain-Free Canned Dog Food.

You've probably guessed by now that Zignature is one of our favorite foods. We've tried the dry food in both kangaroo formula and trout and salmon formula. We've tried several of the canned formulas and I've been very pleased with all of them.
Zignature is free of the usual allergens such as corn, wheat, soy, dairy and chicken. The first ingredient is exactly what the label shows, in this case salmon. My dogs love Zignature and they thrive on it.
I'm hoping that feeding Norma Jean lots of healthy fish will help her skin become less itchy and give us all some relief.

Chewy sent us this case of Zignature Salmon Limited Ingredient Formula food at no cost to us in exchange for our honest review. We really love this food. If you get an opportunity to try Zignature, do it. We think you'll be pleased.

It Can't Be !!

Hi everybody,
Yesterday was a beautiful fall day, sunny and warm with a little breeze, a perfect day for a birthday or two.

That's what we had, two birthdays. Sydney and Mackey celebrated their birthdays and can you believe they're six years old? It seems like they were these fat little puppies just last week. Now they're bigger and a lot noisier and they're both pests.
Mackey barks when she's happy and when she's sad and when she's hungry or tired or wants to go out. She barks when she doesn't even know why she's barking. She's really fast and steals treats every chance she gets. Still she's an ok pal.
Sydney, on the other paw, is one scary pup. We never know if she's going to be sweet and friendly or if she's going to growl or try to grab us by the throat. Mom and Dad spend time alone with her and she lives by herself in her special pen so that we're all safe.
After our dinner last night we had pieces of a birthday pie that Chewy sent us. It was pretty good but we like Mom's banana cream pie better. We wished the girls a happy birthday, then we spent a quiet evening with the peeps.
Today it's cold and windy so we're helping Mom and Dad make Noah's special food. We get to sample the sweet potatoes and carrots. Tonight we'll each have a little on our dinner.
It's been a pretty good weekend and we're rested and ready for another exciting week.

When Pigs Fly? #Chewy Influencer

Hi everybody,
We're back! Actually we've been here all the time but Mom needed a little time out to get her head in a better place. I don't really understand that because her head is still in the same place it's always been, on top of her body,  but she feels better, so everything's good. Peeps can sure be strange at times.
Lots  has been going on here. One morning last week we woke up and had this. There wasn't much but it stayed around for several days because it was super cold.
Mom's been doing lots of cooking and we've been helping. We're great kitchen helpers. We do tasting and of course clean up any spills.
Yesterday was called Thanksgiving but we weren't very happy.  Mom and Dad left us alone for hours while they went to a friend's house. Our dinner time came and went and they still weren't home. When they finally came home they smelled like lots of good food. We complained loudly about being left and almost starving to death. Mom said our dinner was only an hour late and we weren't starving. Can you believe that?
Actually dinner was worth waiting for because we got to try a new food from Chewy. This was Wild Frontier by Nutro High Protein, Grain Free Large Bird Recipe Turkey Stew with Nutrient Rich Liver.
It really tastes good and Mom liked how it looked but she laughed after reading the label. It says it's large bird recipe but the very first ingredient is pork broth. Mom said it's pig bird formula food. She just shakes her head sometimes at the labeling on things. They try to make you think it's one thing when it's really something else. She says in this case we all do well with pork but turkey stew with liver, should be made with turkey and liver, not pork.
We liked the food and turkey stew on Thanksgiving is a good idea especially when you're starving.
We hope you all had a great Thanksgiving holiday and didn't have  to starve.

The food we received is labeled Large Bird Recipe, turkey stew with nutrient rich liver. The ingredients are pork broth, chicken broth, turkey, chicken liver, chicken, etc. I noticed on Chewy's site that it's now relabeled as Wild Frontier by Nutro Turkey and Liver Stew and the first ingredient now is listed as chicken broth followed by turkey, liver and chicken.  Pork broth is still there but is now the seventh ingredient. Be sure to read labels, especially if your dog is sensitive to any particular ingredient.

We received this case of Wild Frontier "Large Bird Recipe" from Chewy at no cost to us in exchange for our honest review.

That's Why They Call It Fall

Last week:

The neighbor's tree

Our tree

The neighbor's tree

Our tree

The Christmas cactus are putting out lots of buds. We should soon have a big display of blossoms.

Unfortunately, my mood is also in free fall. This is a tough time of year for me and I'm trying to fight the depression off, but so far it seems to be winning.
