Do It Again

Every night at bedtime Mackey jumps on the bed and rolls over for a bellyrub. She's not a cuddly dog and this is the one time that she enjoys being handled.

Boston is totally different. He likes to cuddle and to be held. But they do have something in common. He likes bellyrubs, too.

He runs up to Rob and rolls over expecting one. And who can resist?

MINE!!!

Toddlers go thru that wonderful stage in life when everything is theirs. Their favorite word becomes MINE!!! Well, Boston is going through that stage now.

His first night here we spread his blanket in the middle of the living room. The next day he began gathering toys. Each toy he found that looked interesting he dragged onto his blanket until he had a pretty good pile.
One time he dragged Mackey's basket onto his pile and I removed it and told him NO, that is not yours. He's  pretty comfy now and extends his exploration range a bit each day. He's still adding to his toy pile. Today he found a leaf outside and brought it in to his collection.

Rob likes to take a few of the toys and spread them out around the house. Then he watches Boston find them and bring them back to the pile.

He's very proud of his toy collection but Bunny, a small blue rabbit seems to be his favorite. Each morning when he gets up he runs to check on Bunny.
Gathering toys is tiring work and a pup needs a nap afterwards.
Shhhh, don't wake him.

Settling In

Boston had a rough first night but last night went better. He sleeps in a carrier next to the bed. Mackey has been sleeping beside the carrier so she can check on him and let me know if he needs me. He whimpered a couple times during the night but went right back to sleep. We're all feeling less sleep deprived today.

The living room looks like a puppy is in residence. There are toys scattered everywhere. His attention span is pretty short and he goes from one toy to another, then falls asleep to refresh his battery.

He really likes his dinner and has no trouble digging in. I'm feeding him in a crate so he learns to associate the crate with good things.  After he eats he usually naps for awhile. Yesterday he discovered the water bowl in the kitchen and makes numerous trips to drink. I expect to find him splashing in the bowl soon.

Today was his first vet visit and it went great. Dr B was taken with him and told me how happy he is for us. Boston checked out perfectly and didn't even complain about his vaccination. I asked Dr B if Boston's eyes would turn brown and after checking them out closely he said that they're green and probably will stay that color. How odd.

The big storm has put a damper on our house training because of the temperature but we'll get back to it soon. I think he's going to be pretty easy to train He likes to go outside to pee and look around.

Surprise!

Santa came early to our house.

He brought us a special gift.

His name is Boston. He was born November 12.  Mom is a chocolate Lab and Dad is an Australian Shepherd.

Boston is very active, very nippy and very loud. We all had a short noisy night and he is currently complaining about being confined in a crate. Who else would bring home a new puppy at the start of a major winter storm?
I hope Santa brings just what you want for Christmas.

Winter Begins

 Hi everyone.

I want to wish each of you a most wonderful Winter Solstice.

Many of us will be facing a big winter storm starting later today, so stay safe and warm and keep your pups and kitties close.

Holiday Cheer

I promised more holiday items and here they are.

First is a Chilly the Reindeer.

Next is a big silly dog. At first I wasn't pleased with him but he's grown on me and now I'm actually quite fond of him.
I'm running out of both time and inspiration before the holidays hit so there may not be more till afterwards. We'll see.
