Another Friend Leaves

I received a call last night from my best friend, Sue. Her dog Ellie crossed the bridge yesterday.
Ellie came to live with Sue and her other Springer Spaniel, Dylan, when she was nine months old. The family who owned her didn't want to take the time to give her the life she needed and deserved, but Sue and Steve were ready to take her in and give her a loving home.

Ellie has been there beside Sue as her daughter grew up and left home and Ellie stayed close by Sue's side as she battled breast cancer and won.
Ellie and Dylan

Recently Ellie has suffered  the problems that dogs often face in old age. She was deaf and her eyesight was failing. She had some arthritis that made racing around the field impossible, but she still liked to wander thru the park with Sue and Steve. Finally it was time and her family was beside her as she left. Ellie was fifteen years old and is loved and missed by all who knew her.

Our condolences to your friend on the loss of her special companion. They leave big holes when they go, don't they?

It's always sad, even when you know they're old and have had the best life you could give them.

We know she'll be missed.

It was a good life, one to be celebrated. That doesn't make it any easier for those of us who are left behind. My condolences to your friend, and to you, who obviously loved Ellie, too.
