Third Annual Bandana Day

Welcome to the Third Annual Bandana Day Celebration. In 2009 we started this event in order to make new friends and touch base with old friends. We chose June 10th because it's a holiday in Portugal known as Portugal Day. What better day for a bunch of Portuguese Water Dogs to invite their friends to visit.

Each year we've chosen a different color to wear, the first year was blue, the second year was red and this year our color is green.

Now scroll thru this array of handsome friends of ours. If you click on the highlighted names, you can visit their blogs or webb sites and say hello.

Last Chance

Hi everybody. Our Mom has been having one of her nasty headaches for the past couple days so we haven't been posting, but we want to remind you about Bandana Day.

Mom feels better today and she's been posting your pictures to the Bandana Day blog, so if you haven't sent them in yet, time is running out.  Send them as soon as you can and we'll get them posted. Then be sure and stop by tomorrow to see some of our friends wearing their green stuff.

It's Still My Favorite Season

Mother Nature has been in a very bad mood lately. This morning while watching the news I saw reports of flooding in the Midwest, wild fires in the Southwest, an earthquake in New Zealand and a volcano erupting in Chile. Wow! Those are some temper tantrums that she's been throwing.
And don't forget the tornadoes in Joplin, Sedalia, Tuscaloosa and Springfield Mass.

But even when Mother Nature is being a brat, she does some things very right. This year, even with all the bad stuff going on, she presented us with my favorite season, Spring. This is why I love Spring.

This is our tree in winter.

Here it is in Spring. Don't you prefer the flowered version?

Look what's in the tree.

Here is a little bit older version of those babes.

Living in the woods behind our house are wild turkeys........

.... and deer.

In the neighboring pastures are new families of cattle.......

......and bison.

So even though we endure unpredictable weather, Spring brings these beautiful sights and they make me happy.

Don't forget to send your green pictures. Friday is the 10th and I need the photos by mid day Thursday to get them posted.

World Environment Day

Today is World Environment Day. The United Nations declared June 5th to be a widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action.

We love our yard. There are lots of ways that we can show it
We try to keep our yard neat by cleaning up after windy days knock branches out of the trees.

Everyone has to pitch in and help.

It's important to keep our yard neat and clean so we can all enjoy it.

In the summer the little plants get dry and thirsty so we have to give them drinks to keep them green and healthy.

We  keep trash in this container and help Dad put it out for the men who pick it up in the big truck. Then we bark at them to tell them "Thanks".

We take time to smell the flowers  and tell the trees that we appreciate them.

We teach the younger generation to appreciate them, too.

We think about ways to help our yard and the planet stay healthy.

We show our love for our yard every day.

We think every day should be Environment Day.
