Hi Everybody, Fudge here with an important message. April is Prevent Cruelty To Animals month. We're joining with a lot of our friends to fight cruelty. Miss Ann at Zoolatry sent us this pretty badge. And our friend Mitch has posted about it, too.
Samba and I dressed up in orange to remind you that not all pets live in happy homes where they're loved and well cared for. Some pets have very hard, unhappy and painful lives.
Mom and Dad know a lot about animal cruelty because they used to rescue abused and neglected puppies. It's hard for us to believe that people would hurt a little puppy, but it happens way too often.
Pylon was thrown away when she was just a baby, because she was "too much trouble". She was actually thrown out the window of a moving car. All her life she was afraid to get in a car. She never got to enjoy going for a ride like we do.
Our big brother Monty was the worst case Mom and Dad had. He had been terribly beaten when they brought him home. He was afraid to let anyone touch him and he never really got over it. It took months for him to let Mom just touch his head. He had to have operations on his ears to repair some of the damage and he always had some nerve damage in his face.
There are lots of different kinds of abuse, not just hitting. There are doggies tied in yards without shelter from the weather and without clean drinking water. There are doggies that don't get enough to eat. Morgan was one of those dogs. When she was a baby, the family that had her didn't pay any attention to her and they didn't give her enough to eat. But today Morgan is happy and gets good food and even treats.
We all have to work hard to stop cruelty and report it when we see it. You can go to the ASPCA website to find ways you can help fight for us. Won't you please join us, it's very important.
Thanks, your friend, Fudge

Heart breaking stories. But your mom and dad have done a very good thing helping out dogs. Thanks for posting.
Such an important message. We cannot believe there are such cruel people in the world. We hope it comes back to bite them.

What a wonderful post, guys! Go orange!
Love ya lots,
Mitch
Love, Love, Love this post!! So important to spread the word.
Winston was horribly neglected then relinquished to a high kill shelter. Thank goodness he was rescued and we were the lucky pawrents to adopt him. He is so afraid of brooms, and the newspaper, we feel he must have been beaten.
We love him so much and will make sure the rest of his life is full of love and security.
Well written, Fudge! You are so right about the many dogs who are abused. Our little Bitsy, a mini schnauzer was abused by a big man kicking her across a field like she was a football. We adopted her and she was wonderful But she hated men's black shoes forever and would attack them, whether there was a man in them or not!

PS - Sissy says hi and tell Noah hi from me!
Thanks for this very important post, Fudge! I was abandoned when I was 3 or 4 (way back in 2001) and it took years for me to get over it and learn to trust again.
Your pal, Pip

our hearts break for these animals who don't have loving homes like we do. we don't understand it at all. sometimes it makes our human so angry and she hates those mean and neglectful humans.
grrrrr.....
We had a little hound that we adopted at the age of 2. She had been tied to a tree since she was a pup. She was always terrified of young boys and I suspect the boys in the house teased her. My stepson was so patient and he would just sit on the floor and let her see he wasn't scary. It took a few weeks, but she eventually went to him and they became great pals.

Fudge you are such a good spokesDog, but darlin' you need a hair cut! I can't see your beautiful eyes. Mind you - it doesn't make your message any less important. I'm sorry there are people who are so mean to dogs. Dudley was abused too. He was always afraid of men and things with sticks - like the broom, mop, vacuum, etc.
Give Morgan some bacon for me please. Iknow it's her favorite. g
A true and valuable post. Someday, please DOG, all the evil people will disappear from the earth and the people and animals who are left will enjoy lives filled with peace and love - and good snacks.
