What Happened To The Day?

Have you noticed that time seems to fly a whole lot faster than it used to?
Let me show you how my days disappear.

Six AM
Let the girls outside to pee. Give them a snack and put them in their pen to go back to sleep. Take Morgan out front to pee. Then back to bed.

Eight AM
Everybody up and out. Prepare doggy breakfast and feed them a few at a time. Then back outside.

Nine AM
Give everyone their meds. Human breakfast.

Ten AM
Brush teeth in the following order: Fudge, Noah, Sky, Tess, Lola, Norma Jean and Bailey. Then everyone goes out to run and play while Rob and I check the yard for any necessary pickups.

Eleven AM
Shampoo Samba's infected foot. The infection is gone, but the foot itches and we don't want her to start chewing it again. I wash the foot with a medicated shampoo, let it stay on the foot for ten minutes, then rinse it off.

Noon
Outside for a snack of apple or carrot. We play ball or some other activity. If there's a party, this would be the time for that.

Two PM

Another outing and more play.

Four PM

The best time of the day... DINNER! Then a quick outing. Running is not encouraged at this time.

Seven PM
The  final daylight outing.

Eight PM

Evening meds.

Ten PM
Yogurt time and our last outing. The girls go into their crates for the night and everyone gets a cookie.

Eleven PM

Morgan and Samba go out front for a final pee opportunity.

This schedule doesn't take into consideration baths and haircuts or vet appointments or training or walks. Those all get fit in wherever.
I wonder where my days go? It seems I never get anything done.

My days feel like that, also, although I don't have the "pee schedule" that you do. Here's another day gone, and I don't know where it went.

Gretchen is upset because she got her feet dirty on our walk. (Duh?! That little stream ALWAYS yields BLACK feet, but she leaps in anyway...)

My dogs are probably the only dogs to ever control an entire League's schedule. Our meetings - set by the current president, not me - revolve around Sissy's need for a walk and an eye drop.

And by the end of the day, we bet you have no trouble sleeping:) Unless of course you have a pup or two like Phantom and Lightning who think that 2:00 a.m. is the best pee time ever.

I can completely understand. A few years ago, we had several cats who were all older with multiple health problems (one of them was Tommy, the one I told you about). I also had a newborn baby. Pretty crazy! I went from changing a diaper to cleaning up Tommy after he got out of the litter-box. Lots of cat meds and baby feeding. Fortunately, Pip was healthy back then and did his best to help. I also didn't work at that point to stay home with my daughter (first 2.5 years) and sick cats! Life has calmed down, but I can so relate to your busy schedule!

I don't care if you have one dog, like me, or 10 dogs like you. The time just flys by! Didn't we just have Monday, and tomorrow is Thursday! I am sewing on a special project and just about when I get going good, Stella tells me there is someone at the door. But there isn't, the neighbor dog is out! And on it goes . . .

Howdy Everybuddy, mum says she agrees. The days and weeks are just flying by and she can't keep up with everything. She thinks the older you get, the faster the time goes. We don't know what the heck she's talking about. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

Glad to hear Samba's foot has healed. Is she still in the Cone? Jed is finally out of his leg bandage, but still licking opportunistically, so the doggie door privileges remain revoked.

Yep, time picks up speed when you're going downhill :) At least that's what mama says. We pretty much stick with our routine and it fills each day, just like yours.

wow, i love to hear about another person whose life revolves around their dogs. that's amazing how the day goes by and you feel like you didn't really get anything done, but you spent the entire day taking care of your precious children. that's what it's all about (IMHO).
