A Case Of The Blahs

Have you missed me? I've been here. I just haven't felt like doing much. I've had an overwhelming case of the blahs lately.
Each morning when I got up I meant to blog and do some housework and some baking and start a craft project, but instead I sipped my second cup of coffee in front of the TV, did some reading, took naps and mostly sat around doing nothing. I watched lots of TV and played some computer games on my Kindle, but nothing productive got done.
I've decided it's OK to play hookey from everyday life now and then, so I'm not going to beat myself up over this little vacation, but I will tell you about some of the events that got me here.
First, my allergy attack a couple weeks ago turned into a case of strep throat. I thought I'd try to catch it fast and started some antibiotics. They cured my throat, but they sapped me of all my energy. I lost my appetite and just wanted to sleep all the time. I finished them Sunday and am slowly starting to get back to normal.
Second, someone stole my bank card number and charged mucho dollars worth of motorcycle parts, software and clothing to my bank account. I caught it quickly, but still it was a super pain to have to close down accounts and help the bank track down charges and get them reversed, etc, etc. As of today it looks like the money is all back in the account and we have shiny new cards, but something like that just makes me so angry. All the wasted time and energy for some idiot who thinks it's fun to steal from strangers.

Next it's been raining. A lot. I'm glad we're getting lots of rain, we need it, but when I'm in a bad mood to start, dark wet days don't help much.
There are probably a couple other things that have contributed to my mood but I can't think of them just now. I wound up with  blogger's block and still don't have anything very interesting to post about. Hopefully that will soon pass. I was able last week to visit with our friends at the lake to celebrate Christmas and Rob and I also met Tammy, our 1000th post winner. We delivered her prize to her.
Today I've made a real effort to get my act together.  This morning when I let the dogs out after breakfast, I noticed Bailey lying on the ground looking at something. I didn't pay a lot of attention till Norma Jean and Tess both joined her lying on their tummies in a circle. When they all jumped at once as if startled, I knew they had an animal and I needed to do a rescue. I walked up the hill and there he was being watched closely by the three girls, our annual visitor the turtle.
Each spring a turtle, maybe this one, treks up the hill cutting thru our yard. He's on his way to the pond about half a mile down the road where a lot of turtles live and sun themselves all summer. In about a month our turtle will head home again and we usually see him walking along the street or cutting thru the neighbor's yards. If we see him coming, we'll give him a ride back into the woods where he lives.
We're quite fond of turtles. Rob brakes for them and helps them out of the street. Many times in our marriage, he's come home from work with a turtle or two in the back of the car. If he finds them on busy streets, we do a relocation to the safety of the woods.
Besides playing with the dogs today and going to the grocery store, I've been thinking about what project to start tonight. So you see, I'm working at fighting off the blahs. It just may take a couple more days to get back to normal.

The Blahs happen to all of us. Sounds like you're getting the upper hand though....

Sometimes you just need to opt out of life for awhile to restore your sanity.

Love the turtle stories.

Sue, so sorry you had strep throat! And sorry about your stolen bank card number!

You probably accomplish more when you have the blahs than most people accomplish on a normal day. I would think just taking care of the pack would be a full-time job.

I always go through a period of the blahs/feeling sluggish at this time of year. Once the hot weather sets in, I feel drained all the time. I've had less time and energy for blogging lately, too.

It's great that you and Rob give the turtles a helping hand when they need it.

Hope you feel better soon!

Wow. Dreary, damp days, a stolen bank card and strep? I'd have more than the blahs. I'd be so cranky I wouldn't be fit for human company.

Thanks for helping the turtles! I've always liked turtles, for some reason.

And while you were missed, we all have to recharge from time to time. Just keep coming back when it suits and we'll keep reading and commenting too!

I'm in a great mood, but I gotta tell you - I'm missing access to my email during the day. I feel like my left arm has been cut off.

I'm sorry you have the blahs. I hope you can shake them sooner rather than later.

I bought a watermelon last weekend and it made me think of you :) g

Sorry Sue,
I know where you are at. I still want to do a post on the lovely gifts and getting to meet you, Rob, Mac & Syd. This week has been so hectic, I'm tired and I have a sheep that is dying--can't do anymore for him so it's time to get the vet out.

Anyway. Things do have a way of ebbing and flowing--even the creative blog juices. Hang in there.

We all deserve some down time to recoop now and then. I've been having some as well - with great plans for organizing things this week, only to have gotten pretty much nothing done. And guess what? My bank phoned me on Monday to ask if I made a $10.50 charge in Saudi Arabia that morning... apparently some jerk got ahold of my bank card # as well... but they caught it with their first attempt to see if the #'s worked........ I feel your pain. :(
Hang in there... and enjoy another cup of coffee!

The blahs sure are making the rounds. We've had a major case, too. But it was good to catch up on your doings and to learn you all had such great check-ups. Yea!

We had a card theft a few years ago, too, apparently from an internet purchase. Ours showed up as a charge in an Indian department store. Fortunately, the card issuer caught it at once and mama didn't suffer the 'making things right' stress that you did. Glad yours is straight now.

Hadn't thought about Frosty Paws in years, ever since Abby came with her chronic pancreatitis. The Danes used to love them.

Hi Sue, I'm so sorry to hear about your case of the blahs...and VERY sorry to hear about the charging on the card...that is so awful. I do not understand why people do this sort of thing. It is just terrible. I sure hope you are feeling better. We all get that way from time to time!! xo Jeanne
