Independence Day

Hi everybody in Blogville.
Today is Independence Day or the 4th of July or even better, it's my Gotcha Day. Yes, that's right, I came here to live on the 4th of July.  Mom says she wishes she knew about my early life before she met me and I wish I could tell her, but I've told her a lot already.
I can't explain how I lived before but let me tell you why I'm a happy boy. First of all, I have a Mom and Dad who love me. They tell me a lot that they love me and that I'm a good boy. Those words mean a lot to a dog.

I also have a house full of other dogs to play with. Fudge can be a pain sometimes but he's really not a bad guy.
I have a big back yard where I can sunbathe or roll or even chase Tess. She likes to be chased and we have fun together. I don't like all the water that the other dogs seem so crazy about, but I just keep my distance.

Another thing we do in the back yard is play games. We have biscuit hunts that are a lot of fun. Nobody gets mad because there are plenty of biscuits for everybody.
We also have parties in the back yard. I had never eaten cupcakes before but this family eats lots of cupcakes. That's because we have them for birthdays and there are a lot of birthdays in this group.

Speaking of food, I never knew there were so many delicious  foods.  When I came here I had only ever eaten dog food, I didn't know about fruits and vegetables, but Mom changed all that. We have fruit for breakfast and veggies for dinner. I still don't like carrots and I give mine to Noah.

I had never tasted peanut butter or ice cream and wow, they are both wonderful. Mom and Dad both laughed the first time I had peanut butter. They said my eyes lit up because it tasted so good.  I especially like when Mom cooks for us. She sometimes makes our cookies, but she also makes us stew and enchiladas and omelets. I'm starting to drool just thinking about it.

My very favorite thing is when Dad and I go for a ride, I love to ride, and we stop at that place that smells so good and the lady hands us a bag of french fries right thru the window. Then we park and share them and are they ever good.
Would you believe the big truck man comes here and brings big boxes of food and treats right to the door? This must be dog heaven.

At this place there are lots of nice soft places to nap.
There are toys to play with. I try to be very gentle with the toys because Mom doesn't like it when Mackey rips them up. I just carry them around and suck on them but I never hurt them.
Sometimes I have to go visit Dr B and the nice ladies. I like to go there because they all like me. I stand up on my back feet and hug the ladies with my front feet and give them kisses. One day Dr B sat down in a chair and I climbed up in his lap. He laughed and said it was hard using the computer with me in his lap but I gave him a kiss too.
Having a home is a really wonderful thing. It sure beats being all alone and living on the streets.
I can't tell Mom where I lived before but I can tell her how happy I am living here. That was a lucky Independence Day for me and now I have to go celebrate my 4th Gotcha Day.
