Snow Day

2026 didn't waste any time sending us a winter storm to deal with.  It snowed all day Saturday and on Sunday it finished up leaving about 8 inches. It was pretty but it was difficult to enjoy it because of the frigid temperatures that came along with the flakes. We're having an extended period of single digit coldness so that even the dogs don't want to go out.

Our house is at the foot of a steep hill and snow and icy temps can create a real problem getting up and down the hill, especially up. There are signs warning vehicles not to come beyond a certain point but few drivers read and every year someone gets stuck.

A few years ago we had UPS, Fedex and the US Mail all stuck in the same spot on the same day. That was interesting. The neighbor was able to pull the mail truck out but UPS and Fedex each had to be towed.

Then Sunday a county snowplow came beyond the safe point and got stuck. A bunch of neighbors along with some county workmen managed to shovel the plow out after about an hour in the freezing air.

At least we got the road plowed.
